New performance problems since 1.03?

1.02 patch was good for me so far and now with patch 1.03 im unable to play ... ctd´s the performance has dropped down and game freezes every few seconds.

I would rollback to 1.02 but then im unable to play online.

What we need is a hotfix that gets rid of the bugs that have come with 1.03

Have you tried a defrag after patching? Use a good defragger, not the windows default. use something like Ultimate defrag.

Sounds pretty drastic. Performance is the same or slightly better for me and everyone i know. Unplayable sounds real weird.

Good suggestion as well with the defrag. ARMA has always been sensitive to a messy HD. Get a better one than windows defragger as said.

Maybe uninstall ARMA2 and install 1.03 over 1.01 can be tested as well. But remember to defrag your HD after removing ARMA2 as it will leave gaping holes on your HD. And update all drivers: GFX, SOUND, MOBO, NETWORK etc.

EDIT: I agree on a hotfix, but for the sound that seems to be broken for tons of people.

Must be a damn damn good defrag prog to fix the issues 1.3 introduced.

I use O&O defrag often and still got similar probs from time to time but its so damn annyoing that it works on the Disk for hours

I too use ultimate defrag and was suffering slight pauses after patching from 1.02 to 1.03 running ultimate defrag seems to have cured these stutters. Or maybe it was the server that was stuttering?

O&O is the best IMHO and also the most transparent.

Ultimate defrag is OK but the interface looks like it was created by a 4 year old with a box of crayola.

I'm using contig.exe as defrag tool very efficient tool to defrag just the files i need. No need to defrag a complete hdd. on a note i suggest everyone having performance issues after 1.03 to check it. had loads of fragmented diles after i upgraded.

U only need to defrag Arma after u patch the game. The gamedata itself is static so no need to defrag arma each day ;)

I defrag every 1-3 days. Uusually it takes less than a minute. So if yours is taking you hours upon hours you have obviously not defragged for an EXTREMELY long time, and that would explain your bad performance. You only need to defrag after installing new mods or patches to arma.

Leave it on overnight, and also do a disk cleanup. That will clear literally GB's of temporary internet files. Take note if you have fraps recordings, defragging will take extremely long.

If you defrag every day with a good defragger, and still have issues, i really have no idea how to help :( Sounds very strange!

Unless you daily copy and paste dozens of GB's around on your HD there is absolutely no need to defrag every 3 days. Personally i even find once every month a laughable amount.

I had this exact same problem with v1.01. Defragging fixed it completely. v1.03 runs great, hopefully defragging will help you.

Our group runs a TOP notch Server hosted by Defcon Servers and this patch has caused crashes consistantly. Why don't you say things like uhm mabye the new patch and older mods & squad url's are not compatible and as such will cause great desync.
