how to master arma 2??

Recommended Posts

i met many players with the same trouble.....the game has huge potential but inespressed due to the lack of explanations.

for exemple,in game like ghost recon you can choose the weapons for you and your squad but in arma 2 it seems impossible,i mean i saw many weapons crates in multiplayer maps but there is none in the editor, why?

another exemple:how to play mpmissions with a ai squad?i mean evolution or domination....and how to put vehicles without crew in the editor?and many other questions...........

at a first look the editor seems to be unlimited but:how to set civilian life?random enemies encounters?i think there is no option in this regard....

You just haven't explored it mate.

To get ammo and empty vehicles, you place a player unit (yourself) and then you select the EMPTY option. From there you can choose ammo crates and whatever vehicle you like.

If you want civilian life, you select modules (F7 key), place a civilian module and synchronise it (F5 key) to yourself. You can get random enemy encounters with the ambient combat module by doing the same thing. ;)

cartier90 - search a bit. It's working just takes too much time to activate if you explore map for about 20min MI-8's or a random patrol will appear. People allready posted that this module needs some modifications done.

I got ACM to work, wasn't too impressive though.

Aelin, you can get a pretty good idea just by playing around in the editor and pressing different buttons so to speak.

I highly recommend you check that guide out, thanks again to Mr-Murray, his guides have been really helpful to me.

Re-read his message. You need to first put a player unit into the game. Only after that can you place empty units.

Break up what you want to learn into sections:

For the editor, search google for ArmA editor guides. The standard editor hasn't really changed and there are TONS of articles out there detailing every aspect of it's use. There are video clips and even in-editor tutorials dedicated to helping people learn to use the editor.

BIS makes games. They were just nice enough to give us the tools to modify them. We sort of have to learn how to use those tools on our own. They have some basics up on their wiki, but for the most part the community is your best resource.

**************

Domination is a player-made mission. It's not a BIS creation, so you likely won't find much explaination from them. If you want to read up on how things work in Domination, seek out threads from it's creator. There are some Domination guides out there.

**************

The same can be said for Evolution. There are several forms of Evo out there, but at the heart of it is a player-made mission. The basics usually are the same. Search around for some reading.

Good luck with it all, but break it down and learn one thing at a time.....

There is nothing wrong with the modules - only their lack of documentation (ie they are configurable). It is coming, however. The 'empty' option is the same as placing a unit - Bluefor, Opfor, Civ, Empty, couple of others in that drop down. If you don't already have a player unit you'll need to select 'non-playable' from the control menu. You could also select weapons from the briefing screen before the game starts if you'd prefer. Just search the scripting forum here and at OFPEC and read Murray's Guide.
