I read that those were phased out. Wikipedia: LAV-25 LAV fitted with an electric turret mounting a 25 mm GAU-12 Equalizer gatling cannon, and two, four missile pods, which contain FIM-92 Stinger SAM (Surface-To-Air Missiles). It carries 990 rounds of 25 mm ammunition, and 16 FIM-92 Stinger missiles. This variant has been removed from service. A variant using the Mistral missile in place of Stingers was developed for the export market. Wikipedia's Source for the above. frederf 0 Posted August 3, 2009 I'm pretty sure any M113 Vulcan type ADA is on the way out if not terribly out of date already. The MEU is only 2000-3000 sailors and marines which is a pretty small unit strategically. I'm guessing the HQ company for the BLT probably has some sort of SHORAD and the rest is done from naval vessels and aircraft. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
ScorpionGuard 10 Posted August 3, 2009 (edited) The makeup of the Anti-Air units as said before is 3x Stinger Teams w/HMMWV's 2x Avengers makeup the Air Defense for a MEU. Sofar as the Navy side of thing. There are 1x CG 98 SAM's and 2x DDG 68 SAM's. There use to be a FFG. But they will be striken from the Navy service.
