No more respawn killing in mp

Recommended Posts

Respawn killing... a guy that stand with a sniper or worst a tank just near his ennemy respawn point....

This guy use the worst tactic in OPF MP... he got kill of guy that just respawn, have no idea he is or have no possibility to even counterstrike.

=========> very lame tactic that can ruin a MP game (i passed one MP where a guy named "Alex_from_MP" get 35 kill in camping US spawn area with a tank... result noone would move, some disconnected ect ect ect)

Normally well done map will have separated respawn point hidden to each other or very away from the flag, or have a "kill on ennemy camp script".... but none of th official map.

I suggest that killing a guy near his spawn point will not gain anything to this guy (a zone where your kill/death is not count), or maybe the first 2 min of respawn u cannot be harmed at least (like 4000hp)

Respawn killing ruins this game, do something, only lame ppl and unfair player (i guess the first kind of guy who ll try to find cheat to OPF) use it.

Note: like all MP game it would be nice if BIS would at least clear and set up "Real official map".... instead of some MP map and a tons of player-made map... choose in the whole mapper community, i guess good mapper ll enjoy have their map published in an official pack *no i dont map, i m bad at it*

*player speaked*

Yea, the official CTF on everon is simply awesome. I wish BIS would make more of this quality.

Heres an idea, that one from my squad made.

Both teams had there base, while a civilian truck was driving around with civilians. If you were lucky, you could embark the truck and sit in the back of it.

It would drive you to the enemy camp, and vupti... get out... hide etc smile.gif

its a very cool tactic.

It is fairly easy for map designers to create a trigger that protects the spawn point -- if an enemy gets within a certain distance, a warning message would be displayed, and if he gets another 25 meters or so closer, he gets killed.

Problem solved... biggrin.gif

Yes, it is right but it is the same in almost all games - it still depends on fair play of players.

I agree, players should be enough to stamp this out. Responsible Admins in MP games should kick such players.

That said, missions with respawn exclusion zones for the enemy are probably the best I've played. smile.gif

Yep respawn area killing for scores is a real problem, but you cant make BIS fix it for you, there are thousands of maps out there to date. And each one was made to keep this from happening with safe areas on the map,or it was made without safe areas on map. Simple really its up to the map maker, and BIS cant be held accountable for poorly made maps,if they didn`t make those maps.

Second respawn area killing is brought to you by A-HOLES that do it. So live in the fact that if you don`t do it then your the better person.

So why aren't you going to add kill_the_respawn_killer_triggers

to the official team vs team maps?

There are already the open source versions available.

I think you can get them from ofpec or theavon lady's

site.

OK i know what you mean, it should be changed by the

next patch, so the maps would be updated to all, not depending of having the user-remade version installed.

This is only a suggestion to pass the prob, if they won't

do it.

Hi -

vehicles do not respawn,

so for me a vehicle stood in a respawn area is a legitimate target. Up to you were you park them I guess.

Yep respawn killing is a pain. In all of my CTF, Cap and Hold, etc. missions, I put a Respawn safezone and respawning vehicles, and now I have all of the ammocrates respawning as well. Safezones protect a little bit, but people in Choppers and planes can still fire missiles and such into them because they can get over most obstacles. I do leave safezones out of some missions like 3-way CTF's where they can get in the way.

At their best, safezones can keep the worst offenders from picking a spot right next to the respawn and killing everyone as they spawn.

Since the vehicles respawn, it helps that someone can't completely rape your base to dust as well.

I suppose it all depends upon how you like to play...very realistically without safezones or vehicle respawns..that way you have to protect your assets carefully, or if you're playing on a public server, the safezones and vehicle respawns are almost necessary.

Well if you want any of my missions with that stuff in it, here's a link =)

http://www.aggression.org/karr/KaRRiLLioN.MPMissions.zip

BTW, here's the meaning of my file prefixes:

CH-Capture and Hold

CTF-Capture the Flag

CTV-Capture the Vehicle

DTV-Destroy the Vehicle

DD-Defend and Destroy

ESC-Escape

All of these have respawning ammo crates, respawning vehicles, most have safezones.  Some even have Cessna's with Laser guided bombs, FFAR's, Mavericks and 30mm cannons. wink.gif

A solution perhaps would be to

Define a respawn area with two conditions

1) Kill by firing in it or into it and you die.

2) Kill by by firing out of it and you die.

Simple - perhaps?

The only problem is I'm not sure of an accurate way to determine who killed a player. There doesn't seem to be a good way of determining that.

There has to be a reliable way, since players get credit for their kills in Deathmatch games.

I know there has to be something, but I've looked through the command reference and I've experimented a bit myself with my scripts, and I can't find anything that identifies the killer of someone else.

Obviously the command is there, but is it available to external scripts? I'd love to find it. There's a ton more things I'd like to do.
