    Don't do this!

Don't do this Don't take ten men down to get to the flag and ...... then examine the bottom of the pole with your binoculars!! Don't drop the wrong weapon and run into battle. Don't get into that perfect spot and .....fall off the roof. Don't get the flag and jump into the jeep in the back with no driver. Don't forget your on East and run past a West to be shot in the arse. Don't click click your "out of ammo" rifle in the direction of an enemy who is firing at you. Don't target the enemy then point and .... reload your mag. Don't stalk TV sets, chairs, bushes and tree stumps. Don't stand on a roof with your rifle on your back. Don't throw a granade at the wall in front of you. Don't hop out instead of hopping to gunner whilst driving at sea. Don't give up. [sAS]Razor

    Resistance dedicated server 1.88 beta

Server [sAS]Ruby with 22 players is now back to normal play standards as far as LAG is concerned (if thats what it was which I doubt because LAG doesn't govern frame rate on the host - vice versa?). Good job BIS for 1.88beta. Three questions for advice. 1) On an open server that has been locked by the admin a player trying to join now receives the message - "Player X has been kicked" - This makes people think we have banned them when we have not. Just us? Does duplicate do this too? 2) When running two issues of the server on the same IP/machine on different ports - only 1 (the lower port range 2234/2235) will appear in GSs wonderful internet list. Is there a work around? 3) During the 1.85 LAG event I set MaxMsgSend=5000; MinBandwidth =862144; which seemed to cure all of our LAG problems but not our desync problems. Is there a way to relate this to available bandwidth  and Processor speed etc. or is it just trial and error? Server Specs are XP2000 1Gig RAM, Radion 8500, 155Mbps connection. Thanks in advance [sAS]Razor

    Resistance patch 1.87 beta

1.87 has improved lag a little. However, On 1.87 Directplay we get 49 fps at start and downwards as the game hots up. On 1.87 Sockets we get 32 fps at start and downwards as the game hots up. 17 frames adrift. Our server generally runs well with 22 players but now thats down to 12. Razor
  6. Can I make a request that BIS code us some furry, feathered and scaly critters to inhabit these wonderful islands. We could all go hunting then in moments of boredom, which would provide endless hours of fun. Regards [sAS]Razor

    Fog cheat

The fog cheat exists and our squad has suffered tremendously because of it. 1) We were beat on on an order of magnitude in a ladder game that has fog. Opponents were simply killing us before we could see them - not once but many tens of times. 2) When a comment was made in public - not in a forum but on our own server - our squad was blackballed for refusing to apologise - a member of the opposing team has now admitted using the cheat. Some teams and latterly a well known forum do tollerate and seemingly support cheats. 3) BIS is aware of the cheat but to be honest good as they are they can have little control over graphics card standards and tweaks. 4) For the moment it makes good sense not to play ladder games on maps with fog and to tell any other squads that have an open mind about the problem. I love the game of OFP but I love free speech as well. After all thats what Everon was all about. This genie is out of its bottle now and cannot be put back in. If we know about it then we can at least recognise it for what it is. [sAS]Razor

    1.85 patch troubles?

[sAS]Ruby is now running 1.85 on Directplay and all seems to be well again. To find us you will need to select directplay. fps rates begin at 49fps and move down to 16fps under very heavy load. All seems well. Under 1.85 sockets fps began at 32 and moved down to 6. The flares work well too (all can see them) so night maps are currently very popular. This may be a work around until 1.85 fix is available. Â Â Razor

    1.85 patch troubles?

We run two servers [sAS]Ruby and [sAS]Tigereye on ports 2234/5 and 2236/7. We run an XP2000 1G mem. 100Mbps Since 1.85 I have seen the following problems. 1) Low frame rates < 10fps with 22 players. Previously these maps ran well on 1.75. 2) Intermittent loss of map list - this did happen occasionally on 1.75 but is common on 1.85. 3) Large fluctuations in desync values - stuttering and freezing up. 4) Loss of second server in Internet listings – server runs on the machine but the server does not appear in the lists. Can be seen as remote with exact port number. 5) Modified config file error for every player relating to Mi24. Needless to say I concentrate on the problems but am happy that BIS release such upgrades. Some advice would be welcome though. There seems no way back though since all of the games now have 1.85 too:( [sAS]Razor

    Auto-restart standaloneserver when hang-up

related question - how to get rd of dialogue box. I am hosting two servers on the same PC and to restart after a crash I use the a bat file, </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE"> :start start /W ofp_server.exe goto start <span id='postcolor'> The problem is that sometimes one of the servers hangs rather than crashes. This means that the server will not restart until I can get to it (many miles away). I have tried using a little prog called shutdown that works but only if one of the server has not hung - otherwise the whole thing hangs with a dialogue box. Suggestions welcome BTW i have very few ports open
