What exactly is this "warfare" mode I keep hearing about. Could someone please give me a run down of what it is.

I was wondering how I setup a single player game with warfare.

I've tried creating and syncing the warfare modules but to no avail.

I just me on my own with a large AI squad (no other AI squad leaders) against an AI force.

I've looked at hosting my own co-op missions but none seem to involve warfare.

:(

easy.... Launch a multiplayer game in LAN mode. Voila, you got a singleplayer warfare game that you can save too.

Think large-large scale combat, with each player (or AI) representing a squad of up to 12 units. These squads are then controlled and given orders by a "Commander".

Commander builds the base and order around the units.

Squads capture "strong points" that in return spawn supply trucks that deliver supplies back to town. All strong points are controlled by guerilla fighters hostile to everyone.

Ultimate goal can be defined before mission start (capture x amount of strong points, 30 minute time limit and many more, but usually "Destroy enemy base").

Thats a short rundown of Warfare

Sounds awesome :)

I have a feeling this will be a very addicting online game.

really? I got the german version of the game iwth the english mod from... forgot his name but its a thread in the mod section ;P.

When you start up the game, click on multiplayer -> new -> Lan game ->

Under UTES as map type i have "War Welcome" which is a warfare mode on the tiny island.

Under CHERNARUS i have 'deathmatch', 'detector', 'close quarter battle', ... and 2 warfare modes -> "Civil War" and "Superpowers".

How many units can I have under my control? I can pick 7-8 AIs for each side, but those AIs are not under my control. The only units under my control are the few that I buy. Is there a way to get lots and lots of units and place them as sentries to control areas as I capture them? And, that way, I will be the main "leader" of the assault? I think I heard that it can even play as an "RTS," but that would only be possible if I have lots and lots of units under my control.

It's a counterintuitive, hidden system that chooses what weapons and and units you are able to buy at any given time or location, and seems to choose randomly how long it takes to capture said location. It sometimes plays like a game of Whack-a-Mole as you try to hold down every village in a 20 square mile battlefield with a single squad.

At least, that's my experience with Bear Rising and Freedom Fighters.

Curious if any knows this but does Warfare work in SP? If so what do I need to toss in a mission to get it running?

Warfare works in single player. There are I think three Warfare missions in the single player scenarios. You can also play any of the multiplayer Warfare maps solo by just hosting your own server as a LAN game if you want. I suggest the doing that since you don't respawn in the single player versions (instead you have to reload your last save).

It's precious info. Thanks!

Ty. Any good faq on setting up warfare missions?

You mean creating your own Warfare missions with the editor? There is no easy way to do it I'm afraid. Not a lot of official documentation has been released for the Warfare module yet. Try the editing forums for more info, but be prepared to be unpacking pbo files and doing some digging through script files. :)

Ah. K, sounds like I'll do the lan method. I tried it once but was disappointed by the small troop levels. I remember a scenario in Arma where one city had so many independent forces that it was a real pain to take. TY
