new climbing animation for new structure!

we need 2 other climbing animation !

first, small plateform , like railroad way . secondly, we need a wall climbing feature too ! usuable by AI of course !

thats quite a lot of processing power animations and ai wall climbing.

can we at least have ai that drive in straight lines first on roads.

I don't really see the use of climbing stuff that doesn't already have stairs/ladders; but it would be nice to have a rappelling script so you can get down from buildings/towers faster. There's already one for helicopters

I also like to be able to climb a 6 foot wall. but i think right now, the AI should know how to crossover the low fence themselves...

Or we can all just take a lesson from the AI and use the gates instead of showing off with our fancy wall hopping... :j: it's actually faster.

++. One or two more climbing-animations for other objects than fences would be a great little addition. (like climbing on objects which aren't only 3cm broad, but where you keep the height, once's your up there.)

Also there are some type of fences, which you should already be able to climb over (at least I think so), but you can't because they are like some inches too high or whatever.

Are you kidding me? Have you ever watched how the AI walks around the plains? AI-movement right now is like cheating all the time. They don't walk from A to B. They `wallhack` there. They don't climb over fences, they simply ignore them and walk through them. They walk through anything, be it a house, a tent or even a car/truck... right through the middle they go.

And I don't think this will change, because else, the AI would get stuck all the time (keep in formation! Doh!), which was probably the reason in the first place, why the developers made this decision... :/

Remember Matrix 2 and those two ghost-guys which could materialize themselfes at will? Arma2 AI is - in those cases - just like that. Though only half that cool as the matrix guys :/ hehe

Are you sure you're playing ArmA2 ruebe? So far I'm very impressed by AI's pathfinding in over ArmA, and I haven't seen them walk through anything.

Absolutely. Though this wall-hack behaviour could only kick in as a last resort or something. Still, it occures pretty frequently.

The AI walk through the fences you have to jump over.

That's it, and also a very few set of building walls which have half open doors, like angars and such. Very rare compared to the walking through fence thing. AI simply has no "jump over fence" animation, they solved it by letting them go through. It's way faster than players, though

Well I haven't seen them doing it (doesn't mean they don't), but I have seen them using gates on fences...

I like how they made sliding down the ladder in GTA4. Very nice there.

I mean, it would be nice to have something like this in arma 2 too. It takes ages to come down the ladder.

Yea made the mistake a few times thinking the option you get going down the ladder was slide to find myself falling to my death. :o

Also I have seen the AI walk though barbed wire which the player is unable to.

Oh no not this in arma II please. I had enough of the AI in Arma walking through walls/cars, etc behind me and shooting me in the back :(

I agree with this.

Even though I'd like to see climbing over big walls too, probably a soldier in full gear couldn't make it, so it's ok if they don't add that.

Well they can just fall (not jump, read: FALL, as in riding the wall and then falling on the other side) over the wall and then stay prone on the other side, that would be nice if your under heavy fire.

Also id like to see an animation for a soldier loosing his footing and falling on his private parts just for the laugh :yay:
