Scrub 0 Posted July 3, 2009 (edited) Hey, just wanted to post about a feature I didn't even recognize I was enjoying: The blur/shake when suppression fire is incoming. I find the AIs' responding fire to be very satisfying (and letting me know when I'm slacking by getting smacked) But the blur didn't register until I was showing my friend and he said 'what was THAT?' I remember being worried about how arcady it might be when it was first mentioned pre-release. Just want BIS to know I didn't even notice it until now. That is about as high a praise as I can warrant. It simply fit so well for me I didn't see it as anything but... As it should be. :) Edited July 3, 2009 by Scrub

walker 0 Posted July 3, 2009 (edited) Hi all Causes my panic moments, to be far more consequential. :) There I was scouting a little dell thinking and saying to everyone this is a perfect ingress route loads of cover, but I had forgotten that the mission maker was a fellow Zeus member and thus not a total idiot. The terrain drew us on sucking us into a killing funnel with a couple of MGs and a sniper at the end of it and a flanking squad to our right on hill 200m to 300m beyond the edge of dell side, that started below the edge of our covering dell side then slowly and sneekily rose up untill it had a grand stand view of the inside our once covering dell. Thus creating the perfect L shaped ambush crossfire zone where the trees and dells cover was completely negated. I will lodge that effect well in my memory for future reference. It would make a perfect TDME for real troops. I suddenly find my self under fire from two directions I scramble for [z] key butter finger it and try to bring my shaking gun up to sights position finally get the [z] key only to find the bushes and low grass obscure my sight, I hit [x] to kneel the enemy fire gets more accurate more suppression more blur, I am not sure where they are, I hit the [z] again but rounds are real close now; the snaps sharper and louder and mixed with wirr sounds and soft ground thuds and thumps of hitting the trees I am near, I try to roll out but that just increases my disorientation, I try a few rounds in the direction of the fire but that just nails my position and pretty soon I take two rounds, I roll again but this time I red out and it turns into writhing on the ground in agony, after a while the OPFOR put my out of my misery with a burst. As You can see I am enjoying the suppression too. I also like its effect on the AI; making the duck and stop firing. Kind Regards walker Edited July 3, 2009 by walker
galzohar 31 Posted July 3, 2009 I wonder though if the AI is actually suppressing, or just missing and/or trying to shoot you through obstacles. It feels like it's more like the latter.
Uziyahu--IDF 0 Posted July 3, 2009 Ah, I've not been considering the effects of suppression when expecting A.I. to respond to my squad's initial volley of fire.
