You can carry or drag wounded off the field, and revive injured with multiple medics working on the casualty as shown:

So yeah, totally identical, except for the part where it's WAY BETTER...

Except when the advanced healing mechanics are activated, for example in the campaign and some SP scenarios. Then it's similar to ACE, just without the unconsciousness. People don't die quite as easily, so there is a chance to heal them. Also, you can drag or carry them to safety. It's generally more forgiving.

You can have various levels of injury which may result in being unable to walk, or even being completely incapacitated. If you are injured badly enough and dont recieve treatment in time you can die.

I was pinned down by enemy fire and one of my team (AI) was shot and injured. I could see him writhing in agony but was unable to get to him immediately because I was under fire. By the time I had managed to dispose of the threat to me, I had just reached his position when he stopped moving and died.

Is the healing system universal? Will enemy soldiers be incapacitated and then draged away/healed by their team mates? Or is it just something your squad does?

I did not see them dragging the wounded but they do heal them.

Battlefield clearance (dragging wounded), just like the other advanced wounding mechanisms, needs to be activated on a per-group basis. Usually it's only activated for the player squad (i.e. Team Razor) but it is possible to activate it for other groups, including enemies. In the editor that is.

There are 2 levels of healing :

- simple first aid : anyone can patch you up with simple first aid kit, but you won't be fully recovered. Your icon remains "red" as a consequence and you still have shaky aim.

- Full "healing": only a medic/corpsman can really heal you completely and make you 100% combat ready again.

Note that the more serious the injury, the longer it takes to heal you.

There are also 2 levels of "clearance" :

- "drag" : you grab the body by the shirt and drag it to safety. Best for short distances and under fire, you can still shoot (though aiming is almost impossible)

- "carry" : better for long distances, but it takes time to get the guy on your shoulders and you can't shoot afterward. Definitely not to be used when enemies are around.

It is possible to carry or drag wounded in editor ?

Yes. Place yourself in a group in the editor, then add the advanced wounding and battlefield clearance modules and sync them with the group.

This whole healing thing is total BS IMO. If you're shot in the leg so badly that you can't walk, then no medic in the world will make you able to walk again. This whole healing/revival thing is a total gameplay/realism/immersion killer for me.

IRL medics don't heal. They save your life, yes, but they don't make you able to fight again, at least not in the next few days/weeks/ever depending on the severity of the wound..

I really hope ACE2 takes this into realism land like it does with the rest of the game, rather than just make it a bit more complex while keeping it totally unrealistic.

What you suggest would of course be more realistic, but it would also make the game even more unforgiving than it already is. Sometimes realism has to take a back seat to playability. We made the same conscious decision in ACE when the wounding system was designed, and it added a whole new level of gameplay opportunities to the game.

If someone made an uber-realistic mod where even lightly wounded guys are transported off the battlefield into a hospital, no one would play it for long. Medics would be completely obsolete.

how do you sync modules in? is it hard is there easy ways to do it? can someone clarify this for me. the healing thing? do you need to screw around with anything? is it a code? can you just drag it from the editor menu?

It's easy. Modules are placeable like normal units. Syncing is as simple as dragging a line between a module and a unit. The basics are very simple. It only gets complicated when you want to do really complicated stuff. :)

So why bother having wounded at all.

ACE probably won't do it, thank God. They are the ones who advanced the medic system in Arma 1.

If you want total realism, enlist.

I think a system wherein you get hit badly, your squad mate gives you immediate first aid, the platoon medic stabilizes you, and a MEDEVAC chopper takes you to a hospital facility to get back to 100% would be the best and most interesting compromise being reality and arcade.

It would give medical extractions meaning. You could still fight in the rest of the mission, you'd just have to make the trip to the hospital and back which would take 15 min tops.

15 minutes of not being in control is a looooooong time in any game.

Sure there are moments ins Arma when you wonder around for 10 minutes without much action, but that's a whole other thing then waiting 15 minutes before being abl;e to do anything.

Only if you have ADHD and that was a "tops" figure on time. Could probably have a MEDEVAC round trip in 10. That would only be from serious wounds as well. Less serious wounds could be done by the corps men and lighter by squadmates/yourself.

Perhaps allowing the wounded guy to spectate his friends from first person view while he waits would be enough. :)

Stabilized and on a chopper he'd have his own eyes to look through. Maybe some nice nurse P3Ds ;)

10 minutes is too long for anyone to sit and wait. 5 minutes round trip would be max. Otherwise they'd probably just quit and find a new server.

Thank you, going to try it now.

Or just respawn.
