They are operatable by the AI or the player, whichever you prefer.

Hi oscar19681

The start of this video may help explain.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sfHMpCRHJo&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sfHMpCRHJo&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

As with all ArmA crewed helicopters I presume guns can be under control of the players or AI in the Crew chief or Door gunners position or fired by the pilot when they activate Manual Fire mode in the pilots action menu.

Kind Regards walker

I think they start in a front-facing position in which you an turn on Manual fire and the pilot can fire them.

If no gunners are present they are in a front position and are great for suppressing infantry and light vehicles.

Edit: When using "manual fire", of course.

Is there any relation to real life in this? I remember it was the same way with the BH in OFP.

Unfortunately the pilot can only fire one of the miniguns in fixed-forward position.

The question he is asking is if the miniguns are always fixed forward or if you can "unlock" them and say fire to the sides instead of simply forward.

As seen in the video, the gunners can move the miniguns, but in manual fire you can only fire forward.

I think it's a really cool feature, and seem to remember the A1 Black Hawk could not move the guns fully forward? With the Venom, it's basically the loadout of a Little Bird, with the option to have two gunners firing sideways.

BTW, one thing I seriously like about the Venom: The Gunner Position for the FLIR targeting system means that there's always a pilot and copilot - no more unrealistic "Cargo gets in the front seat" situations.

Indeed, always hated blackhawks in arma 1, that there were only 3 crew members. Always 4 IRL, hated that random soldiers jumped into a pilot seat.

Manual fire will fire the guns in which ever way they are pointing. I assume you can get in a turret, aim it where you want, and then move back to drive, switch on manual fire, and it will shoot how it was placed.

Personally I hate manual fire in 99% of vehicles. Wtf, why can I drive around in a HMMWV_M2 with manual fire on shooting out the side while doing doughnuts?

Yeah that is a bit wierd, should only be applied in some of the choppers.

Ok, i just tested it ingame, for the Huey, you can only fire the Crew Chiefs gunner, the one on the left. You can point it anywhere you like and turn on manual fire and it will stay there. Sadly it doesn't switch to the other minigun when you shoot all your ammo from teh crew chief one.

Like the UH-60 in ArmA 1 then.
