kocrachon 2 Posted May 9, 2009 (edited) So for the longest time I had the Combat Operations version of the game out of the box. Played through the story as a Journal Entry as one of the soldiers who was involved. Obviouslly a very pro-America story. I end up buying it online from a UK retailer with the gold edition... and all of a sudden the story was different this time around... Armed Assault It was the same campaign told with video sequences in between with a news reporter. Making the U.S. Military seem questionable and involves a genocide in the end. I cant believe the story is really so modified for difference regions. Edited May 10, 2009 by HavocDemon
max power 21 Posted May 9, 2009 * CAMPAIGN SPOILERS * Highlight white text to read. Heaven help you if you have a non-white background and haven't played through the campaign and care how it ends. Yeah, and the european story even seemed to pull some punches. They were getting to a point where the RACS, SLA and USA were all against each other and the government of North Sahrani caused their own massacre. In the end they just capped it off with 'those were SLAs in RACS uniforms. It seemed like they didn't know where to end off a very, very complex and gritty situation. Zipper5 74 Posted May 9, 2009 Wow, I never knew the US version had a completely different way of telling the story. I'd have liked to have seen that. I hated the way it was done in the other versions.
max power 21 Posted May 9, 2009 I would like to see the Combat Operations storyline myself.
Binkowski 26 Posted May 10, 2009 I could record it if you want Max. On second thought. That might take awhile.
kocrachon 2 Posted May 10, 2009 Pretty much the US version is all the same missions, with some of them taken out for story sake. More or less it explains how the whole thing is a humanitarian missions, and every mission you are reading the journal of a soldier who lived through it. Indeed, combat operations has a very different story, with the same missions, it was odd. I must say the Armed Assault version was a little better in terms of the news reporter, not sure what I think of the story... was like watching an M. night shyamalan movie... Zipper5 74 Posted May 10, 2009 Maybe someone would be so kind as to upload the Combat Operations campaign file? Provided that doesn't go against any rules or anything.
Clavicula_nox4817 0 Posted May 12, 2009 I preferred the Armed Assault cutscenes; the journal stuff was really lame.
th3flyboy 0 Posted May 17, 2009 what i want to know is if it's legit to have the combat ops campaign uploaded and the armed assault campaign uploaded, since that way we can see them both if we only have or can get one version. If that's illegal, than that's the end of that, but if not, then maybe BIS needs to allow this...
Andi 10 Posted May 18, 2009 I think that's ok as the Combat Operations exclusive A-10 mission also was uploaded on the Missions subforum.
