Recommended Posts

Im thinking they should throw in better character customization then in the last game seeing as this game will have a slight Rp Element to it

This late in the game development, don't hold your breath....

Plus, the way the engine is setup, being able to stretch your face using slider, like in Mount & Blade, or just having set features to choose from, is just not possible. Neither is being able to choose what kind of body armor you wear, how many magazine pouches are on it, or anything of that sort. It would be a massive engine overhaul as far as I can tell. And a feature like that just does not give enough of a game play return for the time spent.

Though it would be nice.

At least it looks like we're getting the glasses back. :biggrin_o:

I don't think that more possibilities to character customization are needed.

I would like much more that Bis work on weapon customization, make the interface more user friendly, it's kind of boring to manage with about ten version for each weapon on ACE ammo crates.

Adding the possibility to choose what we want on a weapon with just a right click on it and different tabs for each kind of equipment, would make my life in Arma much easier. :bounce3:

I second that!

This game suffer few problems like that.

It's not because it's a sim that every little things have to be complicated.

The weaponry interface can definitely be more user friendly and save a lot of time and clicks while rearming.

i.e : one click on a M4 and you see all attachments and magazines available for that that specific weapon.

You can now select each items you want with one click and confirm when you're ready.

That would be ace!

Adding, helmets, gloves, combat vests, armor, etc, backpacks (like in ACE)

That would be cool :)

Those type of things are exactly what would need an entire engine overhaul for, as opposed to being able to script it in (minus the ACE backpack system). The engine is not designed for RPG style equipping of helmets, boots, web gear, or the like. It is based on character models that are a "complete set." That level of customization will probably never bee seen in Arma.

Does anyone think it possible to Dynamicaly change a character's clothing, mid mission, for example; a civilian changing into militia camo fatigues upon joining the resistance in the woods, and then changing back into civs to blend in during surveillance... just an idea i'm considering, that will be a bit limited if this sort of thing isn't possible?

If switchplayer would work properly in Multiplayer you could create a workaround :D

Exactly, but not only this, rather it would be completely useless...

Remember in Arma(2) you always and only play that character that the mission designer have placed.

Choosing your model with a specific helmet/vest/backpack/etc will therefor not work at all - and thats good like that.

On the other side, i would love to add more details to face, like between kinds of beards/mustaches, glasses, etc..

Also it would be really nice if you could change the overall figure of your chosen skin - just a little bit...

So to be able to adjust how big and how tall someone is.... That would add further recognition characteristics for your buddies (but also enemies) to recognize them more quickly during online play games....

I was begging for that since OFP times (for multiplayer of course)....

I have at least two times annoyed Suma with it, one time in 2007 and once in 2008..... i received no answer :p :D

I played Vegas2 and, even if it's shit compared to RS, i must admit that full customization from clothes to face mask, helmet, glasses and different part of armor for each limb is really cool ! But only usable in a realistic way with special forces or mercenaries.

But Red_Barron's right, UE3 is a 1M$/game powerfull engine, i don't think that the Real Virtuality can handle such advanced features, i'ld be glad enough if Bis add an advanced interface to customize weapons instead of that shitty thing with crates..
