MehMan 0 Posted March 21, 2009 I'm a bit disapointed to see that older games like H&D2 and BF2 still beat ArmA2 when it comes to vehicles. What I'm talking about is things like mounted weapons and how the character holds them. For example, I posted this ages ago, a vehicle mounted weapon in H&D2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkLceGMeCGs Next is vehicle steering: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or1r1bixn7Y See how an older game like H&D2 handles this? Like, tons better than ArmA and probably ArmA2? I think it kinda sucks that nothing is being done in this department. BF2 also handles this pretty well, much in a similar manner: You can see the gunner actually ducking. So I'm hoping this might be improved. I think I'd be great to see it improved. But, eh, what the hell do I know, right.
Raphier 0 Posted March 21, 2009 I kinda agree, but Arma 1 DOES HAVE vehicle steering, and the way it applies to ground. it's just not very visible until you test it.
MehMan 0 Posted March 21, 2009 I'm talking about the driver turning his hands while turning the wheel.
Pyronick 21 Posted March 21, 2009 Hidden & Dangerous 2 is built with the driving model of Mafia, which makes it an excellent drive next to being a great tactical shooter. Armed Assault 2 needs something like ragdoll physics for operators and passengers of vehicles and animated arms for steering. But it also needs a good driving model incl. proper oversteer, understeer, suspensions and tyre dynamics.
Spetz 0 Posted March 21, 2009 yea i hope it is possible to improve the vehicle handling compared to OFP and ArmA 1.

MehMan 0 Posted March 22, 2009 Battlefield 2 handling, with a mod, but the core game is the same Here's how BF2 handles it. Although not perfect, it's still better than what we have currently.
dunedain 48 Posted March 22, 2009 Arma and even Ofp at his time had outdated animation, hope this will be fixed in Arma2 ..
versus 0 Posted March 22, 2009 i'd also like to see LOTS of improved stuff like animations, damage model, transitions, effects, etc, etc,... but i think the problem is that BIS has a relatively small team of developers compared to many of the "bigshot" companies and therefore it's simply impossible for them to produce all those superficial details that these uber-budget games get. we'll probably see many of them in flashpoint 2 but then that's likely going to be a dumbed down experience for the mainstream console-crowd. real simulations are a niche-market even on pc and we can all be glad that there even is a company like BIS that keeps making games like these. but with lower budget come lower standards and priorites have to be set. personally i hope they concentrate on the most important things first, like smooth performance and good/working ai.
