Stewy 1 Posted December 27, 2008 Yes Rock, these are such wonderful choppers! Posted on your Bug Tracker Site Quote[/b] ]G'day guys, Just a minor one, when the Puma (with AI pilot) inserts troops, the rear sliding doors don't open. No problems though when Puma comes to pick troops back up - doors open then. Cheers Stew Cheers guys Stew
vilas 477 Posted December 27, 2008 am I right, or Puma is NATO counterpart for W-P Mi-17 ? such universal cagro middle-weight choper ?
VXR 9 Posted December 27, 2008 am I right, or Puma is NATO counterpart for W-P Mi-17 ?such universal cagro middle-weight choper ? Yeah you could kinda compare it with a mi17 as counterpart. The Puma is used by quite a few nations. Not all the exact same version like the Dutch. They have the Cougar, a longer version.
Prydain 1 Posted December 27, 2008 am I right, or Puma is NATO counterpart for W-P Mi-17 ?such universal cagro middle-weight choper ? The Sikorsky [or Westland in this case] Sea King would better suit a comparison to the Mi-17. I have seen a Sea King at an air show in the UK and been in an Mi-17 or Mi-8 (I don't know, not that good with helicopters) in Angola, they are floating buckets. For battlefield use the Puma fulfills same role as the Mi-8/17. The Seaking is similar but until 2003 (excluding the Falklands) was really only used in coastal areas. The shortage of UK medium lift helicopters in both Iraq and Afgahistan made the RN swap ships for bases.
