Safwan

Just a quick idea how the several small villages will look like from the air. The Villages look pour, but with time they will gain more things.

All pictures were taken in VD 10000m. Sorry for the quality, still have a crappy video card & PC confused_o.gif

In the two first pictures you can see Safwan mountain in the back far away.

When i spend some time personalizing the mountain it will look bigger from this distance.

Great work Bravo 6! Perhaps some rubbish piles and litter might add to the feel around the houses etc? perhaps some bushes as well under the trees?

yes i know what you mean, i intend to do them still, I'm just fixing some old thing so i can move on.. to the next level.

Meanwhile some tests I take some pictures and save them.. some i share into this thread so people can have an idea how some things look. I love critics, feel free to make them at any  time, with them i can have peoples opinion, point of views etc.

There are some visible bugs in the pictures that I'm aware and will fix with time.

The project is moving slowly because among testing, modeling and fixing old stupid and crappy bugs.. the real life consumes too many time tounge2.gif

those palmtrees look really sweet. but i think the leafs could use some highlights to look more juicy and less flat.

i mean there seems to be just one colour in your leaf texture. no ups and downs (flat). i think since u can't do it with a normal map and spec map u should add a lil lightning to the texture. or maybe just lighten it up a lil bit.

but that could just be me. still very nice.

edit: looking closer i saw you actually have variation in there. so just increase the contrast or brightness. or maybe a lil saturation (but not too much biggrin_o.gif )

Its looking really nice, this might have been brought up before but the shadow on the palm trees look a bit too full, maybe you could try putting more gap in the shadow lod alpha so that you get a bit more light shining through or try up-rezing it , just an idea, I know its hard with arma's low rez shadowmap, had similar problems with my elm.

for those who are interested, yes Safwan is still WIP of course.

Some more models were added to the project.

I would like some real feedback about Real Life data info if its possible, so i can do it or mod it as best as i can:

Can the image on the right, the sand protection with the possible M270 MLRS, be something similar to what exist in those red circles on the Google earth image on the Safwan Airbase?

Does anyone know if Safwan Airbase have those sand "protections" we can see on the right image?

@rikabi i wouldn't miss them for anything. I still wish to create another two or three palm trees.

@Nordbo and others, do you guys know the normal altitude of those sand walls protections?

I made a model of it today, somehow I'm kinda happy to what i achieved based on some real pictures, but I'm not sure how high it is in in real life. The model I've made have +- 1,50 meters high.

This is what Safwan airfield have at the moment:

I'll work on it a bit and see if i make it more natural and higher.

It's hole idea is to protect the vehicle, ammo and weapon, correct?

The one i showed "in game" was based on this one:
