ck-claw 1 Posted November 15, 2008 Hi Q,i'm having trouble getting the server to force default textures? I've swapped the <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">ace_island_rvmat_dta.pbp With the <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">ace_island_rvmat.pbo Is this correct? Thanks EDIT:- Ah found the info on the wiki thanks! Didnt realise clients had to aswell!
Stewy 1 Posted November 15, 2008 Sorry Q, I don't know if this has been covered before, are you planning to make individual releases of the islands? Just to make for smaller file sizes, less lag, etc. Thanks mate, downloading your pack now Stew
.kju 3240 Posted November 15, 2008 440 MB required PBOs vs 66 MB for all 5 islands. (104 of 440 MB are optional textures) We will offer a full package like now and a minimal version with optional additions I guess. However splitting up the islands doesn't make much sense. Stewy 1 Posted November 15, 2008 I'm very sorry, Q, I posted before downloading - I though that all the the islands were patched together like a big Sahrani (big load time and lag on my rig) But I now realise that they are separate islands! Sorry for my ignorance mate - and THANK YOU for all of your hard work on it! 1. Lag Free 2. Great Terrain 3. All my fond OFP memories coming back!
r2101 0 Posted November 16, 2008 well... great!!!! thank you! those islands are excellent... performance is a dream - and in conjunction with ecs armed assault becomes finally what i expected it to be in the first place. at least terrain the a.i. can actually use and navigate. ha! this is actually pulling me away from opf... never thought that might happen...normally i checked patches...played a little while and crawled back to opf again. but this is a really pleasant surprise. ironically this islands are a good showcase for the armed assault engine to be more performance orientated than the older flashpoint version... framerates are better with this than with the original flashpoint version. neat... one can only wonder what would have happend...if armed assault would have been designed around smaller - less performance eating - islands (with less complex objects)... again...many thanks! Farks 0 Posted November 28, 2008 My ArmA crashes after playing 1-2 mins on these islands. Any fixes? Except that, really nice work! I love it!
.kju 3240 Posted November 28, 2008 What is your viewdistance setting? Do you use time accel before the crash? Air you testing the islands in a plane in the air?
Farks 0 Posted November 29, 2008 What is your viewdistance setting?Do you use time accel before the crash? Air you testing the islands in a plane in the air? My viewdistance is 3030. And, yes, I fly over them with an aircraft.
.kju 3240 Posted November 30, 2008 Thanks for the info Farks. This is most likely the reason for the crash. As they are still in the OFP island format, they do not use streaming technology it seems. The result is that ArmA crashes if there are too many objects to be loaded. High viewdistance and fast movement (and time acceleration) do multiply the object loaded per second. However as ground unit this should never be a problem. For air try viewdistance 2000 for now. Good news is that islands in the ArmA format should be ready soon. .kju 3240 Posted November 30, 2008 Everon in ArmA WRP format ace_island_eden_2008-11-30.7z Please test if that works for you without crashes. Bump up viewdistance to 50 000, take a plane and 4x time acceleration. Also please test if you like the forest like they are now. They consist now of single trees. Feedback about performance and their general setup/feel would be very helpful. You need the CWC island pack beta 4 for it to work. BACKUP the ace_island_eden.pbo first! Edit: Please do NOT mirror that file. The full update will be out very soon.
Binary 0 Posted December 1, 2008 Great work Q - will check this out as soon as possible. How does the new forrests look from the air? With the old pack - the forrests looked really bad when flying over them, sort of like a bunch of identical crammed together bushes. Well done ! Â edit: Quote[/b] ]Edit: Please do NOT mirror that file. The full update will be out very soon. What will be new in the "full update" ?
.kju 3240 Posted December 1, 2008 Quote[/b] ]How does the new forrests look from the air? Download too big to check for yourself? Â Quote[/b] ]What will be new in the "full update" ? At first there will be update of all the CWC island in ArmA WRP format. So hopefully no more crashes with high VD. Forest block replaced by single trees and low vegetation. Smaller fixes. Stewy 1 Posted December 1, 2008 Will performance be just as good mate?
.kju 3240 Posted December 1, 2008 It should be better. Yet ultimately it depends on the density of the forest.
andersson 285 Posted December 1, 2008 It looks like ofp trees on the picture, any plans on releasing this with arma vegetation?
.kju 3240 Posted December 1, 2008 from the old thread Quote[/b] ]In addition we plan to release several vegetation replacementpacks, like ArmA north, ArmA center, desert, winter etc.

mr burns 131 Posted December 1, 2008 Please test if that works for you without crashes.Bump up viewdistance to 50 000, take a plane and 4x time acceleration. Did exactly that and it crashed some seconds after accelerating time. Trying again without recording in FRAPS crashed at almost the same point (somewhere in the middle of everon). .kju 3240 Posted December 1, 2008 Can you please give more details Burns. Like what position on map, what mission settings, your hardware and what graphic settings. Thanks! Xeno and looz had also a crash. Yet looz cannot reproduce it again today.
