kavoven 4 Posted July 13, 2008 Just tried it out and it looks promising. I really like the idea of having no crosshair. I only played a night mission and was killed lots of times and in most cases I didn't have a clue where the shots came from... was kind of frustrating ^^ But at 0 am my eyes are quite tired so I'll give it another try tomorrow
TeRp 1 Posted July 13, 2008 I used to play it every now and then. I'd love to give it a try, however the installer keeps telling me that one or another file cannot be extracted because it's corrupted.. that really pisses me off, as I've downloaded it four times now and also tried installing it on two different computers. SHWiiNG 0 Posted July 13, 2008 I dont mean to boast, i have just played a bit of it and its a very impressive new version, very intense, but somewhat harder :-(
sparks50 0 Posted July 14, 2008 Didn't like it. It has some nice sounds, good recoil, and suppression effects, but in the end, you are just taking flags with very gamey tactics on small maps. Not my coup of tea. Also on the servers I were on there was a lot of kids, Ill rather play the bf2 PR mod.

Wolfrug 0 Posted July 16, 2008 See, my problem is the same as always: scope. And the lack of it here. Sure, this mod has some nice models, nice weapons, sounds, recoil and effects (although I have no idea why my sight gets blurred every time some bullets whizz by - I'm guessing we're simulating suppression?), and the basic map design and game modes are pretty nice. The Source engine would allow for so much more (such as multiplayer-compatible physics, with trash cans and rubble flying around from grenades exploding), but the mod team seems to have focussed more on making everything look like a YouTube Iraq-video. The problem, as I mentioned, is scope. The maps are entirely linear: once you know where the enemy spawns, and once you know what paths the enemy needs to take (there are usually two in attack & hold missions), you will also know exactly where the enemy will appear. There are certain cubbyholes where people will always sit or lie down, since that's from where you will get the most kills/block the most important routes. There are certain other places no-one will ever go, since they're easily flanked/rarely if ever used. Yes - there is a whole strategy to this kind of "corridor gaming" as well, but let's face it: the larger part of the game happens in the same couple of locations time and time and time again. Once you know them, know where the enemy is coming from, then it's all just down to twitch gameplay: who shoots the fastest and most accurately. Caveat lector: This is obviously my experience from MP public play - I am certain (as is always the case) that organized clan gaming is a very different beast. But from the SP pub-gaming perspective, this is really just Counterstrike playing topical dress-up (instead of old-school, depracated European terrorism vs. The Men In Blue, we've got Those Damned Insurgents vs. Uncle Sam's Finest). Which is all fun and games - as long as you've got a twitchy triggerfinger and know where all the little corridors go. Regards, Wolfrug
Serclaes 0 Posted July 16, 2008 I play insurgency since some months now and the new version is definately an improvement over the past versions. I like it because its a fast and responsive alternative to ArmA, altough there are some things i dislike, for example the barely swaying gun when moving and looking through sights and the missing ballistics. The leveldesign is mostly outstanding and i dreamt doing that for ArmA too. Especially the maps made by Majoris23 (Buhriz, Takhar) are exceptionally good. The athmosphere is just right and the pace of the gameplay is good which makes it easy to just hop on a server and play for some rounds, then leave.
privatenoob 0 Posted July 16, 2008 well I re-installed it again, it does have its moments but small maps and 5 minutes rounds(which some servers seem to have now?) aint that cool. Make bigger maps which have more routes to go around on and im there. But it aint that bad, I bought DOD source for 10 dollars to play this and it aint that much to pay. There isnt any modern warfare FPS too choose except Americas Army but seriously, I rather be playing Red Orchestra which is truly awesome but its WWII.
