hicks88 0 Posted June 15, 2008 http://img193.imagevenue.com/loc471....MG] i think my computer got raided by the matrix. i got a feeling this might be a video card issue, so its a gainward 8600gt 1gb, latest video drivers, driectx9c etc if anyone needs anymore info just say and i will post it up, and i run madmatts effects, if thats any help
maddogx 13 Posted June 15, 2008 Looks like the rain texture got replaced by a font image. Similar problems seem to be occurring since version 1.14 of ArmA - i.e. wrong textures getting loaded or even the screen being covered by a single image. I'm pretty sure it's not directly related to Maddmatt's effects. Not sure if the devs have found a solution for this problem though. It may help if you provided some more info about your system. It would also be interesting to know where you placed the ArmAEffects PBO file - did you put it in a mod folder?
kklownboy 43 Posted June 16, 2008 I can get similar issues. When it happens it happens till i just shut down the computer for awhile. It seems to only happen when i leave the comp running for more that 24hrs. It has happened even when it was very cold in the morning but comp had been up for over 24hrs. I have checked the temp and voltages ect( all in spec all just fine)... Logged it all.. The only thing that is the same everytime is the length of time my computer has been running . Shut down comp for about a hour and i am good to play for 8/16 hours, then shut down Arma, leave comp running, come back later(next day) and BAM! get the corruption.... Weird, will keep checking it as it happens. NVDA card..... And its ALWAYS the nv4 display driver giving it up... AND only in Arma. 175.16 XP sp3 " Max mem" no diff, on or off... maddogx 13 Posted June 16, 2008 I don't think it's directly related to running time - since I don't get the bug even though my computer is usually running 24/7, except for the occasional reboot when needed. I also don't believe it's temperature or voltage related, as the symptoms are not the kind you would expect from that. Since this problem only turned up with the latest patch, I would assume it is somehow related to the new memory handling - which would make sense when you consider that textures seem to be getting swapped in memory. So for some reason, in certain situations ArmA is loading the wrong textures. Question is: how can we reliably reproduce this?
Griffon2-6 0 Posted June 16, 2008 This has got to be the most hilarious bug ever.
oktane 0 Posted June 17, 2008 This is familiar to me, after a long freeze. Do you get the freeze? See here: http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....1258499 On mine all the textures get scrambled. Its like someone stirred up the video memory and forgot to tell the game engine where the textures are. I have seen text on guns, ground, tanks, its really messed up. Also huge bush textures. -Gus- 0 Posted June 19, 2008 Yeah I have the same problem, unrelated textures from the game seem to appear over other textures, or the entire screen fills up with a texture. If I alt-tab out/in it disappears, but obviously it ruins the game when it occurs. I have a 8800gts with driver version 175.
rundll.exe 12 Posted June 19, 2008 Are there any ATI users having this problem? might give a clue if its only the Nvidea cards (and drivers) BTW: This is the worst topic title and description I ever saw...
SlipperyJim 0 Posted June 20, 2008 Yes, I also have the freeze and then graphics corruption. As an added bonus sometimes when you exit the game the whole screen goes black and the only way to fix this is reset your computer. VERY ANNOYING. There are certainly enough of us having this problem. I really wish the fanatical fans of BIS would stop insisting the problem is with our systems. Inkslinger 1 Posted June 21, 2008 I seem to be having a similar problem occurring just slightly different. It freezes for a min. or two as described by others, but with no graphics corruption, only the sound goes nutz. most of the time it I can alt+tab out after a min or so and then its just fine, sometimes my cpu restarts. I monitor heat and haven't seen it overheat. I'm running an XFX 8600gt 512mb, and 3gb of 6400 ram, xp-64 also I'm still using the 169.28 drivers Ok, I just installed the new drivers and boom none of my games would work at all, Had to go back to 169.
SlipperyJim 0 Posted June 21, 2008 Ok, I just installed the new drivers and boom none of my games would work at all, Had to go back to 169.28 That suggests to me something else is happening when no games at all work with the new drivers. You could try re-installing the drivers (make sure anti-virus/anti-spyware is turned off because sometimes they interfere with installs) and then run DXDIAG to see if your computer can complete the 3D tests under the DISPLAY tab. Inkslinger 1 Posted June 21, 2008 reinstalled 169.28 and everything works fine again, also reinstalled DX9 and so far Arma hasn't froze on me anymore. (so far! I'll put it through some further tests in a bit.
