max power 21 Posted May 21, 2008 The next thing would be to give it shaders that make it look like gold.

Col. Faulkner 0 Posted May 21, 2008 Some of the "Vietnam" players might conceivably find a use for it.
Sennacherib 0 Posted May 21, 2008 it's to learn how to it's a free 3d model from ...Turbosquid convert it for arma so say it when you post a model. the models from turbosquid have also a README.
nephilim 0 Posted May 21, 2008 So what did you learn from importing that model? sit on your bum and make something on your own instead of realeasing other peoples work (with breaching several licenses whatever).
rocket 9 Posted May 21, 2008 There's some challenge in this project, if you'd like. That model has way more than 5,000 poly's. Cut it down to 5,000 polys, LOD it, make a shadow LOD, a geo LOD. I'd encourage anyone who is interested in ArmA modding to get the free models off turbosquid and practice this. Everyone wants a nice end result, because it helps spurr you on. There is nothing wrong with using a 3D library for reference, thats what gamedev companies do. The "real" work comes from making a model work in game. So, go to turbosquid... download a model... and make your own: * Resolution LODs (six of them, max 5000 polys for highest) * Geometry LODs (500 polys) * Fire Geometry LODs (500 polys) * Shadow LOD (max 1000 polys - ideally less) Then, practice cutting the model up and making a "destroyed" version of it (lots of fun!. People ask me all the time how they get into modelling, well, thats the way you do it IMHO. EDIT: And if you want a REAL challenge... try making a realistic model for the PS2... shesh... you're talking "hundreds" of polys and not "thousands".
