M1A1 Abrams by Mateck

Yeah, thats more like it. Maybe a bag or 2 more crammed/leaning on something on the rear part of the turret and it will look a bit better.

And about the weathering, please try to not overdo it, some dirt and grime is fine, like how you have it, but making it look all rusty like its from a tank graveyard (as you can see in some M1A1 skins) just ruins it. The way you have it in the last picture is perfect.

Also, in Blue_Flight's last post you can see a plate of armor on the side of the turret attached to the fencing. This is common on Abrams' in service. If you havent already made a model for these plates, i have one for it if it would be helpful to you. You would need to skin it/map it yourself however.

Thanks for all these updates in such short time, really means a lot to the people who are waiting for it to come out.

Actually that all depends on its surroundings and what it is exposed to, that would be rather light wink_o.gif

In the end there isn't necessarily a right or wrong way to weather your vehicle (to an extent), you just need to decide what enviroment you want it in,.

Which is why you might want to consider a few different variants for the different enviroments. IE the one on the last page for North Sahrani settings and then one with a more weathered camo for South.

On a side note, it seems some things from the TUSK were added onto a few M1A2's.

Oh silly me, I have that photo and yet I never spotted the loaders shield.

There was also the extra armor around the tread wheels and if I'm not mistaken, the tank infantry phone, who knows what internal who knows if they have the DVE, PDB and...

Wasn't there another gunner or commander interior enhancement that had to do with systems? Not the gun...or was that cut out?

Will you also be adding a few 'out of the norm' equipment seen on some abrams tanks in Iraq? Few examples.

Only now did I bother to look at a couple of your links.  It is a blank firing adaptor/training device.

So many things to add, so little free time icon_rolleyes.gif

At this moment We are focusing on configuring addon so it will be ready for first release.

I'm currently working on markings system, and random stuff on turret. I'm still using BIS backpacks, but in future We will add new models, I hope tounge2.gif . Also loaders turret needs to be remodeled.

Most difficult part is to add features like TC and loader must turn out to reload theirs MGs, and only loader can reload main gun. Don't know how long it will take to find good solution for this, so first release may not have this features, sorry wink_o.gif

If someone have special wish about the markings, fell free to post it smile_o.gif

Will the loader position be selectable in the editor or will it be like King Homers M1A2 for OFP?

About the armor plates, i will have them sent to you in a few hours (hopefully). I hope you can find them useful.

Player needs to get in loaders position or switch seats after mission start. I don't think this can be changed.

An AI unit will automatically occupy the loaders position like the rest of the positions in single player though right?

Also, what view is the loader going to get when he is not turned out? Or are you making interiors wow_o.gif

Yes, AI will automatically occupy the loaders position thanks to hasgunner option.

No, I'm currently not making interiors wink_o.gif At this moment loader position has forced basic BIS optics.

Yes, he will. Basically loaders position is working fine, expect that when loader is not turned out he can still rotate M240 while he can not shoot from it. It's small bug and I think it can be fixed by defining custom animation for loaders turret.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but your reload sound is off, you've got a soviet autoloader, heres a nice video that might help you with what it sounds like on the inside (I wonder if you can do inside only sounds in arma?):

btw, make it LOUD, I like big concussive firing sounds pistols.gif

We got new loading sounds already, they fit very well.

I asked NWD about his Fire Control System... I hope he will anwser huh.gif

About new sounds. We need new M240s sounds (mounted and coaxial). If someone can provide realistic sounds for this weapons We will be very grateful smile_o.gif

Also I need to point one thing. New sounds will be optional. There will be separate .pbo for new sounds. Without this file M1A1 will be using default BIS sounds or sounds from installed sound mod.

Its not armour, but an IFF panel. These slatted panels appear very very cold when viewed under thermal imaging, thus making the vehicles easily identifiable to friendly forces. Not much use beyond eyecandy in arma, since we dont have TI. Also, you'd be lucky if those IFF panels stop a 9mm parabellum round, let alone anything more powerful.

I did not take a look at these until DM quoted them.  They are officially called CIPs (Combat Identification Panels).  The have been around for several years now.

Mateck, I know over at the Steelbeasts fan site they have quite a few sound addons. Maybe try contacting the makers of one of the better ones and see if they'd let you use the sounds w/ proper credit and all that good stuff? At least until/unless you get better sounds?
