So, is ArmA Gold going to have a broader release in North America this time, or will it be half-assed like the last ArmA release?

I'll pick it up if I can and if you guys fix it properly for Vista64.

Ask Atari.

ArmA gold is ArmA 1.08 + queen's gambit. There has been no further optimizations for vista.

fyi I have had vista 64 for a year now (yes i know it was risky move lol) but the upshot is it works fine

all i need is the 1.09 fix for the 4gb RAM issue, and the fog fix and there is no problem with vista and arma at all. 1.08 is perfectly playable on vista if you use the maxmem=512 switch as there is some video leak that has been addressed in 1.09 afaik

Yep same here, having no problems at all with arma on vista now after getting the hotfixes from the vista thread, 1.09 and running it with maxmem=1023

I know that you can use 'hotfixes' to limit the amount of memory it uses just to get it to 'work'. But I'm still waiting for them to fix it 'properly', so that arma can use all of my 4 gigs if needed, and I don't have to fiddle with settings just to get it to boot.

Information Dispersion, what's that?

.. v1.09 final has fixes for 4GB under Vista x64 etc. The problem is that the drivers don't report available memory back in the usual data type but in another, hence the problem. Suma checked it few weeks ago and seems to add the fix in the next update.

Anyway, The Vista hotfixe are required for much more things than just ArmA, they turn the whole Vista experience into more positive spectrum smile_o.gif

But to use ArmA on Vista x64 with 4gb RAM and nvidia later drivers than 163.xx and some ATI drivers (no experience), you indeed must create a seperate Vista Boot Entry which has 1GB of RAM disabled so you have about 3072 smile_o.gif

Thanks for that news, Sickboy! ArmA gold won't have anything new for vista, but apparently the next patch will.

Hopefully the Gold release will generate some revenue so they will take Arma 1 from the "abandoned" shelf and finish the darn patch.
