Sahranilife Vs Sahraniville

Hey Guys!

As you may or may not know there are to main RPGs (Role Play Games) in ArmA:

Sahraniville: The 1st, The origional. Requires Sahraniville Mod

Sahranilife: Bigger, More features. Everone isfree to acces, Everyone... every deathmatch loving, base raping...

Please cast your votes and say what you voted for and why.

Only try Sahrani Life, so voted for.. i don't want to download addons to play one mission.

But i think these map are useless, not because of the RPG purpose, but because most of the players don't even know what is a RPG. They keep their instinct to shoot on everything that they don't control.

They don't try to act slowly, waiting for the guy in face of them to speak, trying to describe their action (like hiding behind a vehicle or something..) Sure that could look stupid, but it's the only way to play a RPG map on ArmA.

Where is the fun when you just put out your gun and kill the cop where you can said him something like, i am punching your face, disarming ya & running into a covering place. Then cops try hunting him in the city.

You are running away ? They are gonna kill you. Cops never shot to kill if you don't shoot them (i mean real life)

And i should add the game is really really slow (slow in the progression, like get money, try to set ambush, become a dealer or something like that..), it shouldn't be a problem if it was a real RPG (your character evolve but you don't begin with level 0 when you came back.. in ArmA RPG you must redo all..).

It takes hours to get something working like drugs dealer with chopper. (more if there is really bad players on the server & more and more if you got ArmA crashing ^^)

As you are in a FPS you have to react fast.. but here come another thing? All action with others players on this map have to be done by writing.. and lots of time when you are writing you are killed, you are under arrest, someone take your car in front of you.. Most of the player don't even talk like a real RPG.

yeh i agree people do come on not knowing what an RPG is. thats one of the advantages of the sahranville one becasue only people who know how to play come on becasue that have the addons. it keeps out every tome dick and harry who have no idea what an rpg is!

Naah. To me rpg is about swords and magic. Good plot, cooperative playing style (some uncooperative player too), personal characters, pen&paper + set of dices. Or LARP... wink_o.gif

On computer it is mediveal fps, or fallout tounge2.gif

Tried Sahranilife once... Had to quit after short while. ArmA is just not very suitable for rpg. Engine and all. It flexible, but not just suitable.

Well now it seems like Sahrani life is all that's left. No one plays Sahraniville anymore and the Sahraniville update that was supposed to have saved the mission just disappeared.

Disliked Sahraniville for a number of reasons, too spread out map, buggy, and just no fun to play IMO. Ill give all the respect in the world for the guys in GOL, i just didn't like it.

I think i can give the reason behind somerville's lack of work with Sahraniville  

1. Hes got a busy life now with uni and other personal areas

2. When he saw that life dominated his project he lost the will to continue it

to put myslef in his shoes i dont think i would have liked to have seen like 6-7 odd servers in the 1st day and seeing ville just thrown away like that

Anyway for my vote i personally dont like RPG games anyway but thats the information about ville

We play Sahrani Life on rare occasions, but its great fun for our whole team. Latest versions bring a lot of new interesting stuff to do... any hours fly by and we try to memorize a lot of crazy stuff we do wink_o.gif

But then again, we (as SBP Team) use ArmA for realistic MP missions, usually coop or TDM (BLUFOR vs Insurgents).

I think RPG has opened new doors to ARMA i don't think many people thought it could.

I host a tweekd version of sarhani life on one of my servers and have had constant fun! When the voip is improved in the game then the direct chat will be a really good feature in it. It has more of a GTA feel to it, but with a slower pace.

If there was a locked server out there that would let only trusted players to join then all your cash would be saved, but as servers are hacked all the time then its hard to keep a mission going.

Well... Fallout 1-2, All Elderscrolls, Gothics, Mount&Blade... Even Baldur's Gates, Never Winter Nights. Ofcourse System Shock... Let me think, there are hundreds... Arx Fatalis. GTA, too if one plays it so. Ultimas + These internet RPGs.

Altough nothing beats good old paper&pen + set of dices: Alcoholist Dwarf with severe mental problems doing his watch duty during dark night. And so he (again) starts to seek comfort from booze. inlove.gif

Remeber, this is personal opinion. I don't like storytelling campaigns in ArmA, to me they just won't work. ArmA, as well as OFP, just feels so clumbsy in those areas.

After playing Sahrani life three weeks on end...

Nahh... Ive had enough...

Some proper COOP missions would be better!
