If you could extend the day to 36 or even 48 hours long, then sure. Until then, I doubt anyone has the time or inclanation to re-do work twice over, tho I could be wrong...

This topic will get moved/locked to offtopic as your referring to a game that Is made by someone else.

OFP2 is Codemasters project , a different company

Arma2 will be next for BIS

First we have to really figure out what's competing with what here. ArmA is not going to be competition for OFP II. ArmA II will be. ArmA is OFP 1.5, and I'm sure OFP II will be much more advanced than ArmA is. ArmA II is the unofficial sequel to OFP, and OFP II is the official sequel to OFP.

I severely doubt that anyone will really be interested in developing addons for both games at the same time. I'm sure that it will depend on the features and capabilities of ArmA II and OFP II. If there are some dead-awesome tools for OFP II, and they can severely reduce the amount of time it takes to build an addon, then likely at least some of the addon makers will go to OFP II. ArmA II will have some compatibility with ArmA going for it- although the compatibility that ArmA has with OFP didn't really pan out in terms of many dividends for Addon makers. But, to be fair, I'm sure that the Addons for ArmA II will be much more similar to ArmA than ArmA is to OFP.

I'm actually kind of looking forward to seeing what the competition between Codemasters and BIS produces. The heat is on, so to speak, with actual literal competition, sort of like how OFP was competing with Ghost Recon.

I'm almost certain there is no OFP2 (no screenshots, just renders as proof) and if there is, it will most likely be more like BF2 than OFP.

There will be no competition for Arma2 because no one wants to make these types of games. Pretty corridor shooters rule the big developers.

We don't know anything about OFP, we don't even know if it will have an mission editor or not.

According to their press releases, they're going for an undiluted tactical shooter.

I'm sure the press releases from the developers of the latest Rainbox Six or Ghost Recon titles would say the same thing. The term "tactical shooter" is worthless these days. If it has an MP5 in it and features teamplay MP, it's a "tactical shooter" (when in fact, as with COD4, that MP is just class based team deathmatch ala Counterstrike).

I don't presume to know what OFP2 will be like, I'll judge it upon first play of the demo - not before. That said, large publishers haven't done much good for tactical gamers over the past few years. Scepticism is healthy, and justified.

I'm not sure if it's fair judging a game by its demo, if I judged Arma completely by its demo I would have never bought the game. Good god those SP missions in the demo were awful.

liljb15 there was a demo for OFP2?

--Ben

No, he was just saying he'll judge OFPwhen the demo came out and I was saying if I judged Arma only by the demo then I would've never bought Arma.

They didn't use the words 'tactical shooter'. I did.

I predict that there is already an "operation flashpoint 2" thread in OT, 1 is more than enough smile_o.gif
