Airwolf (french version) beta

Hi,

It's just to inform you that I have released the beta version of Supercoptere (Airwolf in French) here :

(clic on "pbo en projet pour AA")

Now, the cockpit is complete (Hawk, and Santini), the weapons are functional and...the turbo also.

NB : When you are in turbo you can choose "Re-engager le rotor" to stop the turbo or "Eagle" to have a litlle boost".

About the jammer, I will wait the progress of the community. Now, I will work on the p3d of the pilot.

I will be happy, if you add screens of the addOn on this topic....it's just an idea.

Nice to see that Airwolf is back! it`s fun to use the turbo and the weapons pistols.gif would be nice though, if you could translate the actions to english, as french is not that easy to understand.

anyway, keep up the good work thumbs-up.gif

VERY Nice work bro!! I was suprised to see the gun pods actually work like the 'real' one. Cockpit looks outstanding as well...and with working gauges. As stated previously an english version would be nice, but I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth....much kudos from this oldschool airwolf fan.

Now this will really show my age...who is going to tackle the Blue Thunder heli? Anyone around old enough to remember that series back in the 80s?

Model is Great but I think the textures need some improvements. And BTW lol I don't think these choppers have that many rockets, correct me if im' wrong tounge2.gif

Nice addon, VERY nice.

I like to fly it alone, with out gunner, like every chopper. It's hard, fasta and it has a LOT of ammo, and the cannons are awsome.

I only find it a "bug" (i don't know if it's a bug): It's almost imposible to aim while being the gunner, i can't move the aim, and i don't have a external view (i'm saying not a view like the Cobra gunner's aim, the one with zoom and everything).

Agree with Rambo slightly here, need a 'little' bit more lift from the rotors at slow speed, or a 'little' bit less inertia.

Fells 'almost' right for a two-blade rotor with the additional weight of airwolf, but a little more would help when trying to chase Ka50's... Doesn't feel right having Airwolf being out-raced by a hokum..

if u use turbo you wont be outrun it can reach a speed of 400 with the turbo on altough it turns like a brick with the turbo and has a habit of losing altitude

Thank's Rambo16, it's a great movie. I have saved it on my PC.

To Nastro, it's the limitation of AA. I didn't succeed to go faster than 450Nd. After, the chopper is instable. Is't the same thing about the manoeuvrability with turbos. But I find it more interesting and more realistic. You must play between the turbo and the re-engage rotor during your flight. That remember me the begenning of the pilot's series when Moffet must re-engage rotor to be more manoeuvrable and move from a missile.....

If I could be better I will do.

Is it me or are the weapons weird under multiplayer? Guns and POD missiles are fixed in 'deployed' position - you must retract and then deploy quickly to be able to use them at the moment?

I've since discovered that RedWolf should be much different than AirWolf, armaments and no Turbos etc., so this is just a skin that's red on the Opfor side.

I did also upgrade the Blufor-side AirWolf skin, and it looks much finer/better now.

I don't want to be releasing this myself as it's not 'proper' for RedWolf, however as I posted above, I'd like to share the AirWolf skin, non-error flares and the script translations via XPETIT if he would be able to incorporate them into a small 'official' update from him?

The Red-skin version still could be used for multiplayer so to have a balanced fight though?

The weapon loads are pretty irrelevent, its a fantasy helicopter with a fantasy loadout ( most of the rockes its armed with couldnt even fit in the launch tubes ) but thats exactly what its supposed to be. Its fantastic.

Noticed problems when letting the AI completely crew her. If you set waypoints and set the combat mode anything less than "combat" the ADF pods are constantly extending and retracting. Also when you set the waypoint speed to "full" the turbo's do kick in but the Pilot appears to loose his nerve a bit and panics. The nose will pull up and he will climb constantly while the turbos are active ( scared of the Airwolf style high speed ultra low level flying ?? ).

That AI behaviour is I think due to the AI scripting bits in the addon being incomplete yet - the same code was causing the multiplayer problems I reported when the guns are extended at start and refuse to engage. There's still a lot of work to do before multiplayer is practical for the finished addon.

I have temporarily disabled the AI code in the addon I have been playing with, so to use it multiplayer on my LAN. It works fine with it off, however one thing i noticed is that the extending-cannon barrels are only visible on the crew's machines, not visible on other peer's machines. The cowling retracts and extends correctly, but not the barrels.
