Guest Ti0n3r Posted July 13, 2007 Agreed Dwarden. The last mission competition was pretty interesting... And it would be nice if we could submit missions and then BIS would pick the best ones and add voice acting + include them in QG
Balschoiw 0 Posted July 13, 2007 How would we be able to make mission for it without having access to QG units and content ?
Guest Ti0n3r Posted July 14, 2007 We could just make missions for vanilla ArmA and they would be included as single mission
TankCommander 3 Posted July 14, 2007 Looks kinda hard to achieve a result as good as their 'examples' by the looks of things but I might give it a proper shot sometime
mr burns 132 Posted July 14, 2007 after some fooling around i added a real attempt.http://www.armaqueensgambit.com/images....210.jpg http://www.armaqueensgambit.com/images....831.jpg I somehow liked the 1st shot more. Also the 2nd uses an image taken from google, isn´t this a copyright infract? The other guy using parvus screenshot has to reread the rules too, seems to be quite hard My first tries:
jerryhopper 286 Posted July 14, 2007 Blagh, after that first 'Contest' 505 games didnt really learn. we see some mega flash site, but we cant do shit with that. Example : News sites could do a newspost with the highest rated images or such... but this is a very hard task, to pull all shit outta flash. So, BAN flash SITES! - they look nice but sux in their goal. the goal is : PROMOTION! ( like in 'being indexed in google and found by a gamer' ) so... we community will give 505 games a little hand... Jerry presents : All packshot competition contributions on a simple html page. http://ww.armedassault.eu/queensgambit.php
Maddmatt 1 Posted July 14, 2007 So, BAN flash SITES! Yea, I hate it when sites use flash. Some great cover artwork there now. ArmA: Queens Gambit should have a great looking cover, the missions had better be awesome too
Guest Ti0n3r Posted July 14, 2007 Those were all pretty damn nice Sad to see that some assholes are stealing pics from the ArmA photo thread though.
Bob.Moore 0 Posted July 14, 2007 The top left and bottom left are examples....
mattxr 9 Posted July 14, 2007 I like the bottom left one and yes Mr Burns that LGB one is awesome.
jerryhopper 286 Posted July 14, 2007 HOKAY!!! After the launch of the Queen's Gambit Packshot design competition, i got irritated by the 'Flash' shell around the image gallery. Not only agitated by flash, but also the lack of 'external promotion' tools jerry began to write a RSS feed out of the data thats available. After a quick digg in the website, i came up with a 'RSS feed' with embedded images, so everybody can check new submissions with just one simple click. Fire up your RSS reader, or use the buildin RSS viewer in your browser and check out those latest designs. http://ww.armedassault.eu/queensgambit_contest.xml Now you dont have to do the weirdest tricks to find the url of the image. i hope you all 'digg' it! regards, Jerry Hopper
opteryx 1562 Posted July 18, 2007 Wow! A lot great entries here, but I really think this is a winner though: Does the guy who made this visit the forums?
JohnMalcolm1970 0 Posted July 23, 2007 Since there are a few other examples of peoples work in this thread, I thought I'd post my 2nd attempt, and also give this thread a bump - to encourage more people to join in. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/john.malcolm3/Queens_v2.jpg Edit: Image too big
Shadow NX 1 Posted July 23, 2007 Looks super well done but to attract customers it doesnt show enough of what the game and in this case the expansion is all about.
JohnMalcolm1970 0 Posted July 23, 2007 Looks super well done but to attract customers it doesnt show enough of what the game and in this case the expansion is all about. Thanks. The idea was to come up with something that could adapted to form the final packaging. We don't really yet know enough about the expansion to put anything final together. The supplied image assets were a bit sparse in that regard too. We know one of the new campaigns features mercenaries, yet no quality new screenshots of these units were supplied which people could have used. As for my own design, I reckon that the newspaper part could easily be moved slightly and adapted to contain a lot of textual info plus a pic or two... Likewise the postcard could feature content from the game instead of a nice pic of Paraiso I enjoyed doing it a lot though and stayed up way too late last night doing it. There are some really great entries. Sadly there are also a few too many which are simply a single screenshot from the game (usually "taken" from the ArmA Photography thread) with the logo slapped on the top. I'm also confused by the number of entries that look like they're designed for a square(ish) format like CD jewel case.
BLSmith2112 0 Posted July 24, 2007 How did you learn how to do that? heh... that is a really nice job there. I've been using Photoshop for 7-8 years and I don't even come close!
