Great missions. Much, much better than BIS' ones. I've completed two of them (Operation Demilitarization and Warrior) and got stuck at third - Road Incident. It's a bit hard and after a while I'm not sure what should I do... Am I supposed to go after the enemy on my own? (All other squads got wiped out.) Or am I supposed to retreat?

But overall I'm a bit confused. Many people scream: make missions, not addons... and they're right wink_o.gif I myself scream it. But when such a good missionpack gets released nobody gives feedback to the authors.

So thanks, your work is much appreciated.

Yes, it is necessary to kill almost all enemies.

Strange that all allies were dead. Probably it because of the version of game. (this mission was made on 1.01 or 1.02)

Do not climb on the first line and use a sniper rifle. Or try to replay mission and do not forget cover your allies.

I thought it because we are from Russia smile_o.gif

Thanks for your response smile_o.gif. Because of such responses we continue to translate our missions on English. (One more thanks to smoke52))

Actually I myself could play those missions in Russian as I come from Poland and I learned Russian at school... but I prefer English because when it comes to Russian I have to 'decrypt' the cyrilic alphabet to latin one and then I eventually can understand it wink_o.gif

And i forgot in my first post - I like your missions because they feel quite realistic. I especially like all the radio chatter. I simply love that the missions aren't like: 'you're on your own, take a sniper rifle, rpg and some satchels and destroy two companys of enemy'. So far especially Warrior mission gave me very good impression of being a part of a real and big war mechanism. I hope I'll someday own a PC that will be able to run the mission with more than 10 FPS wink_o.gif

In the 'Operation Demilitarisation' I also felt like a part of a small diversive squad of highly trained soldiers who knew what to do and didn't need to be told everything.

And all that without a single addon needed! Overall, really good work. Even if you are from Russia wink_o.gif

Regards

Thanks.

Then can you explain: our first pack has the highest rating on armaholic, the second pack has turned out too quite good - why so a little downloads and feedback?smile_o.gif

p.s. If you know Russian and English languages, there can be you will help us with translation? smile_o.gif

We have a campaign with 16 missions and something else during development.

I have the same feeling playing your missions (pack 1 and 2).

I haven't played the english version of pack 2 yet. I have some basic understanding of russian and can read it so I was able to play pack 2 untranslated. I was very impressed by the quality and the level design of the missions. And not enough people make missions for the SLA side. When they do, it's usually about playing as the "bad-guys".

My biggest complaint about ArmA was the BIS campign and defualt missions.

Thanks alot, I look forward to playing the english versions and seeing more projects.

No I can't. It's unintelligible for me... Really. But from my experience addons, apart from the time that demo of OFP was released and the community wasn't able to make any addons but only missions, were always more popular than missions and always had higher download rates. Maybe it's because of the way the OFP and ARMA newssites promote new addons, but not missions? They post almost every single WIP screen of upcomming addons that is posted on this forum and host every single released addon (with a separate news and download link on the main site), but rarely news about new missions. And I think it's partly because there are some very poor missions and people download them and install required addons only to find that they are nothing special. You can judge addons by looking at screens, but you can't judge missions the same way. It's really difficult to predict wether you will like the mission that you read about in the forum or not. And finding that out is quite time-consuming so that's why most people prefer to download an addon they like (judging from screens) and play a bit with it in the editor...

I can only say here: People! Try OTK team's missions! You won't regret! Missions for ARMA don't need to use BAS Blakhawks or other shiny addons to be very enjoyable and playable.

BTW. I totally missed your first pack. I have to try it. Especially if it's rated even better than the second pack...

p.s. If you know Russian and English languages, there can be you will help us with translation? smile_o.gif

Trust me I'd love to. But I'm not sure that I would be able to. Especially if I had to translate only a script without a context. I blame the movie industry for that. I know English military terms mostly from movies... But Russian war-movies aren't so popular and I don't know the Russian military terms smile_o.gif . And I'm affraid that translating from my third language to my second language wouldn't be so good confused_o.gif

And good luck with the campaign. I can't wait it.

ok. try to earn some reputation. smile_o.gif

Quote[/b] ]so that's why most people prefer to download an addon they like (judging from screens) and play a bit with it in the editor...

We (russian ofp community) name such addons: "museum addons" smile_o.gif

IMHO real addon - addon which use in missions, instead of that which lays on a hard drive smile_o.gif. Opinion of mapmaker.

Quote[/b] ]But I'm not sure that I would be able to.

1st the 2nd packs almost completely translated by smoke52. I sent him the text, translated by the computer translator. He specified not clear places and finished translation.

I think, maybe open English section of forum on our site. If we will have several translators, that way with joint efforts we could simultaneously released Russian and English versions.

If it will be possible to break a language barrier, we could help with testing and Russian voices.

Quote[/b] ]And good luck with the campaign. I can't wait it.

it's allready released in russian. Now we correct some bugs, and add voices. It's would be not bad release final version in English too.

I downloaded the new campign "GLORIA" yesterday. I have to say I'm extremely impressed. Amazing camera work during cutscenes and a very compelling storyline and mission design.

I'm having a problem figuring out what to do after a land the camel in that northern island where I need to find the map.

This campign is professional quality, really looking forward to seeing the english version. thumbs-up.gif

After playing only the road incident mission I'm really impressed by the quality of your mission.

I would like to find your pack 1, and the campaign gloria. Where is it?

You should send a remark to www.armedassault.info so a lot more people will take notice of your quality missions!

Thank you very much for releasing this quality missions and translating them to english.

EDIT: ok I found Pack 1 on Armaholic, but where's Gloria?

Still there is one letdown in the first (maybe in the other?) mission form the OTK pack 2. It's the sudden death mission designing fault.

If you move in another direction then the mission maker wants it you suddenly get killed with a grenade or so. Nobody knows where this grenade is coming from.

This kills the enjoyment of the mission instantly.

(I wanted to get to Masbete with my team to find out if there are some medical tents since some them were wounded. And Bam! I suddenly die on the way. Tried this several times and it's definitely a trigger or script and not an enemy soldier)

If you want people enjoy your missions, avoid this kind of limiting the player. There is nothing more frustrating than playing for hours very cautiosly not to get killed in firefights and then die because a mission maker put a "sudden death trigger in it". Honestly I keep away from this kind of missions.

This is a rather bad mission design that can keep a lot of players away from your future missions and some of them get so discouraged by this, that they don't give you any feedback and move on to other missions/campaigns.

The GLORIA campign is in Russian only right now. It is some amazing work, reminds me a little of the resistance campign from OPF.

Unlike the other OTK mission packs. This one is a true campign.

on our site: otk-studio.info, now only in russian.

in another missions if you move out from mission zone, you see warning, and if you keep moveing - mission failed (you see another warning again and have 10 seconds to load savegame).

this mission too dynamic and fast, and in that way i make grenade kill without warning. maybe it was wrong decision.:)

Yes, it is difficult. Set of words can seem nonexistent in dictionaries because of times, verbs and other rules of construction of words and phrases . In Russian of the phrases look absolutely differently, than in English.

Therefore not knowing Russian - to translate correctly - it is impossible. For an example - words "Castle" and "lock" in Russian look equally smile_o.gif

These are the kind of missions I'm so glad to have on me HD as I will play them over and over. Warrior is awesome!

As far as GLORIA and the difficulty of translating it is concerned, cant you just translate as basic as possible? If it is too hard to translate the cut scene dialogue, etc. just remove the scenes(intro, outro, etc.). Honestly, though I enjoy to see the hard work people put into the scenes, I could easily live without cinematics if it's too difficult to translate the dialogue.

Now, if it's too difficult to translate the mission briefings accurately, I wouldn't mind. Currently, there is a bunch of missions where the briefings make absolutely no sense grammatically but with a little bit of creativity, it's not hard to figure out what the author is trying to say.

Hell, i wouldn't even care if you left words that can't be translated to english in the briefing. Just give me the basics in english and we can figure it out.

I'd love to play this campaign. If the translations barely make sense I wouldn't mind at all. As long as there's a gun and some ammo, I'm a happy man.

I have just played a bit of the first mission and honestly I did not like it much. But it was not bad either.

What I did not like was the missing of an overall plan during the fighting. From time to time I got new waypoints called out by sideRadio (the voice acting is good).

You should update the briefing or communicate whats going on to the player. Maybe you did and I just overheared it during the initial pahase of the ambush.

The mission is very much like the Ofp cold war crisis campaign.

ive finally had some time to play and played the first and third mission.

the whole intro is great, very good camera work and stuff thumbs-up.gif

the first mission was pretty good, it felt as though the intro to the mission was like a movie. like nepumuk says its lacking some information, but during the mission it was easy enough for me to tell what was going on and where i had to go.

at one time i think i got way ahead of the group i was supposed to follow, and ran all the way up near the sniper you have to kill. i had to backtrack and meet up with a squad then we moved out again and completed the mission.

at the start of the second mission i liked the thing that was done to bring up the map and show you where the camera is at. i didnt know you could do that in an intro. when the squad was boarding the heli though the squad leader was doing something weird like his animation was stuck. it looked like he was twitching.

anyway a couple problems i ran into was trying to destroy each objective. the escort came along and i killed them all but the HMMWV was still alive so i ran around for 5mins until i shot it smile_o.gif

i moved onto the next objective to destroy the tanks and they all were on fire and smoking but it didnt complete the objective, so i quit that one, until next time.

the third mission is pretty cool too and very intense. i died but switched to a different group and completed the mission. theres tons of ammo boxes around so i stole an american weapon. the whole time a soldier was watching me take the gun so we kind of had a handicap fight for a few seconds before i killed him, hehe

ill have to play the fourth some other time smile_o.gif
