VaiHalen 0 Posted June 28, 2007 Well I play lately only Arma. It runs well in my computer, nice addons we have now and much more in the future. I enjoy Arma. OFP takes 10 gb in my hard disk. It have been in my hard disk since the begining. Can we expect huge improvements in OFP? Should I delete OFP from my hard disk? There is some instinct that tell me dont do that. Dont unistall OFP. Your computer without OFP? Come on cant be true. But it takes 10 gb, I'm going not to play it (I think). Delete or no delete, this is the question.
HamishUK 0 Posted June 28, 2007 Well that is something only you can decide? I enjoy ArmA but it's your choice at the end of the day.
dmitri 0 Posted June 28, 2007 Easy. Back it up on 3 DVDs, stow it in a safe place. All those addons\memories lost would be a shame. I've moved on to ArmA only, partly because in the year prior to it's release I'd all but stopped playing OFP (work related). Made it easier moving to the newer game (which is really just OFP in disguise anyhow )
Shadow NX 1 Posted June 28, 2007 Haha, got exact the same prob but i have a good few Gigs more in my ArmA folder i think. Havent started it in a few months but i dont wanna uninstall something that entertained me for years. Guess ill keep it or back it up on a external HD. Yeah I'm going to burn it all. Maybe some day I'll need it and psychologically helps a lot
NeMeSiS 11 Posted June 28, 2007 I deleted it, after 1.02 i didnt see any reason at all to play OFP again. However i should have saved some scripts, i had forgotten that and had to rewrite some stuff completely..
memnoch 0 Posted June 28, 2007 Or heaven forbid get a larger HD, and have both ArmA and OFP. They are dirt cheap nowadays anway. I bought two WD Raptor X 150GB for I think £130-140 each. You can get single lesser specced drivers of similar capacity for £50 or even less now.
Second 0 Posted June 28, 2007 I would uninstall OFP if OFP CDs wouldn't be so scratchy (my kid got his hands on them). Last time i spent 6 hours in installing OFP. Maybe i just keep vanilla OFP without mods in my HD, as it doesn't take that much space. And i have to admit: too much memories with OFP... It doesn't deserve to be uninstalled. the unknown 0 Posted June 28, 2007 I still got it installed. The reasons are probally lazyness to uninstall it and the fact i still got loads of scripts and other codeings in the folders that could be of use in arma later on.
The-Architect 0 Posted June 28, 2007 The script point is a very good one. I still refer back to my many OFP script and although some things are slightly different, they are invaluable.
ck-claw 1 Posted June 28, 2007 Ofp got deleted off of my pc last November when i got the Arma My-sprocket version! Never looked back since!
456820 0 Posted June 28, 2007 Well as a current ArmA hater I still have OFP installed and still play it much more then I do ArmA. Until I find anything which deserves the 15+ GB of hard drive space on my computer more then OFP, OFP will stay.
SHWiiNG 0 Posted June 28, 2007 I Deleted my OFP installation when Arma came out
Barnes 0 Posted June 28, 2007 With FFUR/SLX 2007 there is no reason to take OFP off you hard drive. It makes OFP look amazing!
Guest Ti0n3r Posted June 28, 2007 Create a backup of your profile, addon, mission and MP mission folders and you should be fine. That's what I will do tomorrow
klamacz 448 Posted June 29, 2007 I made backup (8 dvds) of OFP addons, ini's and disks Actually I have only arma installed if we talk about games OFP deserves a nice place on shelf and it gots one here.
Guest Ti0n3r Posted June 29, 2007 Quote[/b] ]OFP deserves a nice place on shelf and it gots one here. Amen. You would all call me insane if you saw the OFP part of my shelf
the_bengine 0 Posted July 2, 2007 After reading this thread, i dug up my old copy of OFP and installed it along with the FFUR mods. WOW!!! The firefights feel so much more realistic - better, more atmospheric sounds (you gotta love that loud echoing crack of the ak47, never to be heard in good ol' arma), dust flying up everywhere, a multitude of cries of agony... Will Arma ever be like this?
