xxbbcc 6 Posted July 6, 2007 It doesn't seem to be the case - I run everything on Normal and enemy soldiers between 200-500m are not visible on the default zoom level. It's hard to say the exact distance, though, as I noticed that the friendly AIs very frequently report completely bogus distances on enemy units they detect. So what I thought was 200m may have been closer to 500. But with the TrueView addon (for the short time I used it) I ran into problems, where in normal view (non-zoomed) enemy units were not on the screen (but they saw me and shot me with 1-3 shots.) The default weapon views (where the weapon zooms in somewhat when you lift it), I saw the same enemy units and were able to shoot back. (Not that it matters - I still got shot... ) BTW, what you say about the rendering not being resolution dependent cannot possibly be true. It may be true that units are cut off at a specific distance, but what ends up on the sceen IS dependent on the resolution - the higher the resolution, the more detail can be rendered. (A single pixel represents less and less distance as you go higher with the resolution.) So it's very much possible (it's a fact) that units are not rendered, even though they might be within the cutoff distance: if the unit size is less than a single pixel, it won't be shown on the screen. That's what I saw on my machine: the width of the enemy soldiers was less than a pixel on the normal zoom level (even though the height was 4-5 pixels), so they were not shown. When I zoomed in, they immediately appeared.
ColonelSandersLite 0 Posted July 6, 2007 At 300 meters, a soldier is definatly wider than 1 pixel at 1024X768 with normal zoom with this mod. Here's my settings just so you know where I'm coming from here: * Vis: 2500 * Res: 1024X768 * Terrain Detail: High * Objects Detail: High * Texture: High * Shading: High * Post: Low (I hate the blur effect...) * Aniso: High * Shadow: High * Anti: Normal * Blood: Low (Didn't mess with it as low is good enough for me) First thing I suggest to narrow down the exact distance people are drawn at: Make a very simple mission editor map. Place a unit for yourself, and make sure you place a guy in your group with you as squad leader. Make a guy placed a long ways away that you will be able to see the whole path. Try placing yourself on a slight hill overlooking an airfield that the guy will walk across. Select soldier #2 like you would give him a move order. Notice that the location selection tool gives you an exact range (to the nearest meter). When the guy appears, get the exact range this is happening at. The first step to correct it that I would suggest though, is upping the object detail a notch, noting that id does not effect anything other than draw distance. It *does not* effect the literall model detail of the objects very much. It does effect the LOD distances, but that's likely where you're having the trouble anyways. Also, just to make sure you know, you can zoom in with iron sights to get the same effect you would have with the weapon normally. I hope this helps some. Odie3 0 Posted July 7, 2007 I like this MOD, however I am having a odd issue (I use TrackIR). When walking around I started to get this little "jump" in the screen. Its does not seem to be TrackIR seeing me move my head but a vertical snap up then back down. EDIT - never mind, rebooting my PC seemed to fix this issue. Kenbow 0 Posted July 15, 2007 BUG? While using this addon, I still get the mini-zoom when I bring a M203 up to aim through the sights. I know using the sights for the M203 was a new feature in 1.08, so that is probably why TrueView wasnt setup to get rid of the zoom effect on that particular weapon. Rocco 0 Posted July 26, 2007 will there be any updates for trueview? i really like to have the same zoom as default when playing multiplayer maps, otherwise it gives u an disadvantage, because u see enemies from farer away then with default settings. Auss 208 Posted July 26, 2007 Good mod but I have stopped using for the exact reason as the previous thread, the zoom level has been set way to low, it disadvantages the player using this mod
-APS-Nick 0 Posted July 27, 2007 As others have suggested, this mod is great bar the fact that east vehicles have crappy zoom... Please release v1.

dreamweaver 0 Posted August 8, 2007 Can anyone tell me where this location is? Or is it an addon map? It is shown at the end of the first video. Shot at 2007-08-

bravo 6 0 Posted August 8, 2007 But where exactly? It is shown in the first video that the author of trueview has uploaded to demonstrate the functions. grrr.. that church you see up there is on the hill 153 and the image is facing south. So the man or camera must be in a top building on the North side of Paraiso. Hope your happy with the answer. Lets not get OT on this thread. I wait for new updated
d2duke 0 Posted August 8, 2007 That mod is actually good, except the fact the + zoom level is too low and I can't actually look around (alt+mouse move) when on iron sight!! O_o Where I'm failing at doing what??
frederf 0 Posted September 15, 2007 You couldn't look around in ironsight in the stock game either? Increase your objects-detail setting, that controls how far away stuff pops into existence.
Rg 0 Posted September 15, 2007 I am going to ask to lock this thread, since I chopped up TrueView into two different mods. This thread will just add confusion for the newest release. As for a TrueMods update....... ...you know the old saying.....shit happens? Yea, that's about all, but I am trying to get the newest versions and the beta released as soon as possible. Worst case would be to just release all the updated TrueMods very soon and release the RangeAI beta a little bit later, but it would be nice to release everything at the same time.
