-duke- 0 Posted September 14, 2007 I had the same kind of problems as many of you here only my "spikes" were all over the place and usually seemed to be most prominent when looking west (I believe). At the time I was using an X1900GT and when I experienced the issues, I added a 10mm input fan to the front of my case to see if bringing down the temperature a bit more would help. Sadly, it never really worked for me regardless of driver version (current and rolled back as far as 3 releases). I double checked every location I had an issue with when picking up my 8800GTS and the issues were gone. I know I'm no longer an ATI user, I just thought I'd add my input since my X1900GT had similar issues. BTW: Windows XP 32 Bit Conroe E6600 2.4 Dual Core (Original Card) ATI Radeon X1900 GT 256 MB DDR3 (I believe)

I mean 10mm...how is that supposed to be effective for your intended useage ? I have a 120mm fan to cool my case and it´s one of those cases where size does matter

I also failed to mention that while what I was experiencing did look to be heat related, it would happen immediately after starting a mission yet other times it wouldn't happen at all for several minutes. Kynxx 0 Posted September 20, 2007 this problems are related to way to high graphic settings. i had this issue too some days ago. when i used the beta drivers from nvidia. they allowed me to max out the settings even more. i did it, because it could :P but then those bugs. i run with a nvidia 8800 gts 320 card. and have everything on high/very high. with the 162.18 drivers. with 163.xx drivers i got this problem when i set the terrain detail level too high. now, when i run with the 162.18 drivers, i have "high" as the highest option on terrain detail level. with the beta drivers: very high. and that killed my GPU
Dwarden 1125 Posted September 20, 2007 Kynxx these glitches we discuss here happens on all terrain details higher than very low (because if my memory serves me right at very low is grass layer disabled) aka at all of terrain settings low, normal, high, very high no effect from other settings at all and as i said before these glitches are happening in exact same locations for ATI card/driver users ... smegleg 0 Posted September 25, 2007 I get the exact same problem. Running an x1950pro 256mb agp with catalyst 7.7 drivers, because of the problems with 7.8 and 7.9 for my card. I've tried all the different graphic options, nothing helps.

fasad 1 Posted April 8, 2008 Dwarden, I had the bug with my old ATI 9600 XT (not to be confused the new Nvidia 9600 series). With my ATI video card system, I couldn't find any of the grass wall errors on United Sahrani. Can any ATI user with QG have a look? I've got an Nvidia card in my new pc and the bug is gone. rowdied 44 Posted April 9, 2008 Dwarden, ATI bug for sure! This happened on my 1950pro 256 and 1900xtx 512 cards and not on any of my nvidia cards( 6600gt,7600gt,7900gs,7950gt,8800gts and 8800gt) Both my ATI cards were not overclocked or overheated, and the same result in those exact 3 spots for me. Don't remember the drivers?...6.6 to 7.10 I think.
suma 8 Posted May 7, 2008 We have checked the problem and I can confirm this issue is caused by ArmA. The problem is exactly as indicated by Humus in http://www.rage3d.net/board/showthread.php?t=33920547 - we are passing bad vertex range to DrawIndexedPrimitive API for some "distant grass" terrain parts. nVidia cards ignore the vertex range input, therefore the issue cannot be seen with them. So i guess you will fix it with the final patch? If you do so, could you be so kind and fix the odd error with the overbright custom-faces textures for ATI users aswell? Because it really seems to me that you are a bit disadvantaged as a ATI user when playing Arma. Best Regards, Christian
Dwarden 1125 Posted May 8, 2008 thanks Suma for official answer ... i knew You aware of the reason now but official is always better hopefully fix possible for next public patch mr.g-c: about the JPG textures ... i think i don't see that problem with HD38xx cards in latest drivers but i'm now not sure about result with older cards ...
