SWAT_CDN 0 Posted June 11, 2007 Sorry for new topic but this may be important. From Atari Forums: "Atari will be posting it on atarisupport.com, atari.com/arma, ftp.atari.com, and other official sites after our code release meeting today. We have to make sure there are no unknown issues/problems and that all departments approve. I want to make sure everyone is informed and that customers get the best support possible. I've got a certain level of quality that I feel needs to be met with everything I do so I am going to make sure we follow correct procedure on releasing a patch. ___ Mattlab Atari, Inc. highplainsdrifter 0 Posted June 11, 2007 That's good news! At this point, I don't mind if it takes a little longer, I just want the patch to install without errors. (I never could get the beta to work - and I have no addons, etc, just a vanilla 1.06 install)
FCF Bad Karma 0 Posted June 11, 2007 Just an FYI for the US Atari digital download users, I got the 1.08 update from the fangaming link and installed it without incident. Game runs fine and is currently at version 1.08.5163. I also mirrored the patch on my site. http://www.teamfcf.com/downloads/AA/ArmA_USUpdate_108.zip
Marines 0 Posted June 11, 2007 The 1.08 US patch is already out, mates. It weighs in at around 329MB as opposed to the international patch that's 500MB+. Atari has a fairly bleak history when it concerns support. http://www.fangaming.com/fileinfo.php?fileid=1472
Odie3 0 Posted June 11, 2007 Then why does it still state that it's coming out soon? Seems that it may be an unofficial patch...
Marines 0 Posted June 11, 2007 Then why does it still state that it's coming out soon?Seems that it may be an unofficial patch... *sigh* Agian, Atari has one of the worst support reps around. Maybe this could explain thier awful profits in the past four years, and why they continue to fall behind smaller publishers. The US patch I posted IS the official BIS patch. And yes, it works perfectly fine with my US version.
Odie3 0 Posted June 11, 2007 roger, I'll trust you then. However, I was speaking about armedassault.com download section - I would think Atari does not control what that page states. I recall back when I had a Intellivision and my neighbor had a Atari I would tell him that "Atari is a Sorry piece of crap" [yes I am rather old].
Heavy Metal 0 Posted June 11, 2007 roger, I'll trust you then. Â However, I was speaking about armedassault.com download section - I would think Atari does not control what that page states. Â I recall back when I had a Intellivision and my neighbor had a Atari I would tell him that "Atari is a Sorry piece of crap" [yes I am rather old]. Except Atari had all the good software. Intellivision was good for sports though. I am old too.
FWF.Osteo 0 Posted June 11, 2007 I'm old too... I have fond memories of my original Atari game system... Quick question about the "unofficial" d/l, is this for the DVD version of the game as well as the downloaded version? I have the DVD and would hate to install the wrong patch... Thanks in advance! r71 0 Posted June 11, 2007 Who made the atari patch? I dont see any offical word from BIS or Atari
FWF.Osteo 0 Posted June 12, 2007 Answered my own question, the above patch worked for my DVD game. Says its made by BIS....
Rynthas 0 Posted June 12, 2007 FYI, I've got the US patch up on my ftp server for public consumption. It'll remain there unless bandwidth utilization spikes like crazy: ftp://nuchabi.net/pub/ArmA_USUpdate_108.zip
Sc@tterbrain 0 Posted June 12, 2007 Thanks for the info. Â Question for people with 1.07 beta: Leave it or delete the beta folder and shortcut BEFORE installing? EDIT** Saw on another thread that you should delete the beta first. It did not change any files so just get rid of it and the shortcut.

jerryhopper 286 Posted June 12, 2007 Who made the atari patch? I dont see any offical word from BIS or Atari  look guys, the game is made by BIS. ANY code changes would therefore go thru BIS, and not atari. i left my beta shit, and works ok here. what is holding those guys? a reinstall? a reactivation? i faced worst things in life! just try it! jasono 0 Posted June 12, 2007 Maruk, the king, owner, leader of BIS and ArmA Projects announced it on the forum. Surely thats enough evidence that it's not fake? http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....1091731

ForceRecon 0 Posted June 12, 2007 Patched my US version DVD to 1.08 last night using the BI 1.08 US patch from one of the listed links. ftp://www.ofpr.info/ofpd/patches/ArmA_USUpdate_108.zip. Works like a charm ! All I had to do was delete my Beta folder and install the patch. Thanks BI for the Supporting the US version also ! If we had to wait on Atari , we would all be old and gray. Mattlab 0 Posted June 13, 2007 Atari is releasing tomorrow. We had to finish QA first to make sure everything was in working order. Standard procedure. Expect for it to show up on ftp.atari.com / atarisupport.com / atari.com/arma / ataricommunity.com sometime tomorrow late morning or really early afternoon. Best, Mattlab

troop 0 Posted June 13, 2007 I have Euro DVD version (license), after patch 1.08 i can't start the game...Security module....bla bla bla Bravo BIS !!! Symbiot;..you should know better, dont you? If not (it was already explained in another thread) let me explain to you again, how this whole patching thing works. --- BIS (Developer) creates game (ArmA) BIS (Developer) looks for Publisher to distribute game. BIS (Developer) delivers game to publisher upon agreed contract *unprotected* and in return, will get royalties from Publisher for sold units. ---break--- Publisher (Atari, ect.) does everything else from packaging to *protecting* 'game' with copyprotection of their choice. They sell it to you. There are/can be bugs;..either in the 'game' directly or in the CP, the *publisher* decided to slap onto game. Publisher report *game* bugs to Developer;..Developer (idealy) fixes bugs and again, delivers an *unprotected* patch to the publisher. ---break--- Publisher now decides to either *keep* the original CP, or *update* it as well for *better* (cough) 'protection'. --- One patch install and works just fine (1.05) and the next one (1.08) does not anymore. Who is to blame then? BIS (Developer) delivered on their part (1.08) and pretty damn well so, if I might add... Kick some securom nuts;..not BIS. Btw;..I own 3 different versions of ArmA;..yours (505/UK 1.04) as well as (Atari/1.06) and (german/1.00) Installed on 3 totally different PC (2 mine; one brother) guess what? All three installed and played 1.08 well;.. *except* my main PC, which throw me an securom 7001 Did the fix provided by securom as indicated by Maruk and it works for me on this PC as well. Did you try it? Unfortunally, there are *also* reports, that this fix only works partially (read; once without reboot) or not at all. There is nothing, BIS can do about it at this point. Its an new version securom CP and either Securom or the Publisher needs to fix this (incompatibility) mess. And with an 320/584MB patch, they *better* come up with an hotfix soon;..not the complete package again.

I apologize. It's not an issue with the zip file, it appears to be a problem with the extractor that I'm using - AlZip (http://www.altools.net/ALTools/ALZip/tabid/53/Default.aspx). It's reporting an error. I'm taking the issue up with them.
