ThudBlunderQ8 0 Posted July 29, 2007 I'm thoroughly enjoying this beta version. One observation which is new to me (having read through as much of the thread as I can): having just taken a town (Somato) and been promoted to Major, I walked up to the officer waiting to become a PoW. On selecting "capture", my score dropped by 2000 and I reverted to Captain! Same thing happened when I, or a member of my team, "accidentally" happened to kill the officer. I've reverted to a previous savegame and have left him on his lonesome in the town now...
liljb15 0 Posted July 29, 2007 I would also like to recruit more than 12 people, I mean in multiplayer revolution by the time everyone gets a high enough rank the players and the AI all toghether easily reached 40-45. So I think you should make it like 24 to 30 it's not OFP I mean it's not like you can't do that.

Same thing happened when I, or a member of my team, "accidentally" happened to kill the officer. The score drop is only temporarily - it will go up again significantly once you bring the officer to the POW camp. As far as killing POWs - that will always get you a penalty: 2,000 for an officer and 1,000 for a regular soldier.
RangerKarl 0 Posted July 29, 2007 Slightly dumb query, but is there any way to salvage downed vehicles and craft other than having to go all the way to a base or FARP and grabbing repair and fuel trucks? It's really irritating when both Blackhawks are downed at Cayo.
Mr_Tea 0 Posted July 29, 2007 The "POW problem" can be avoided by driving an civilian vehicle, and than ordering the POW to board that vehicle. I always get shut down, when i use an blackhawk or any other mil. vehicle, for picking up the POW`s. To the damaged vehicles: It seems to be easier to blow them up, so they respawn at the base after some time. Even if it cost some points, that way is much easier. RangerKarl 0 Posted July 30, 2007 Thought of that. Unfortunately they keep regenerating on the spot, so blowing them up is useless.
Teliko 0 Posted July 30, 2007 I still think this mission REALLY needs respawn for the player It's impossible... you need 40k points before you can do any damage to a town and the side missions make nothing in terms of points. And if you use a password you still have to get every point for the next rank as if you were a private... honestly.

Mr_Tea 0 Posted August 1, 2007 Savegames, that`s what you need. Save you`re game, ALT+Tab out of ArmA and rename the save file. Now you can save again, and have the other save as an backup. When you are dead, load an savegame. If that is damaged, take one of the backups.
Teliko 0 Posted August 1, 2007 And when we get stuck on the roof of a building with the whole of paraiso's SLA on us? I've depboed the mission and changed the description.ext (or was it init.sqs?) to have respawn and am playing the mission through the multiplayer menu, IMHO it's much more enjoyable. Mr_Tea 0 Posted August 1, 2007 Bug: Adjusting the viewing distance has no effect. It works for me, but remember that you have to go into the office building, to set the view distance for ground and air operations.

I definitely agree with that I mean with the lack of AI squad members and the lack of respawn this mission is next to impossible. Yes the mission is pretty hard. However, I went into the ARMA control panel and opened Options/Difficulty and in Cadet Mode, set enemy AI skill to 0.27 / friendly AI skill to 1.0. Now, the firefights as you start by yourself are a bit longer and you have a better chance of winning. The enemy AI no longer are laser sharp on the first 2 shots. However, one cannot stay in one place for any amount of time. The enemy AI will still outflank you. When starting, one must use hit & run tactics and chokepoints. Otherwise the enemy AI will overwhelm you. In know that the value I set the enemy AI sounds very low, but the mission is still hard. It takes time & effort. No running & gunning here at all. With the save function, I'd rather play it with no respawn. Also, setting friendly AI to 1.0 makes them much more obedient to orders.
skjalg 0 Posted August 3, 2007 A few things I have noticed (and some could possibly be general ArmA bugs but I'll list them all here anyways): * Code for captain makes you major * Code for major makes you colonel * If an enemy POW is ordered to enter a vehicle the player can't enter it unless you disembark the POW and order him to enter after you've entered a vehicle. * Stryker ICV M2 does only rearm current ammo clips, meaning once you emptied all the ammo, it will only rearm a maximum of 100 rounds (100 rounds + 0 clips). Default is 100 rounds + 5 clips. * POWs will often disobey orders and instead stand still and cycle the 'hands behind head'-animation over and over. * Ordering a POW to enter the shuttle sometimes makes the shuttle take off at once the order has been given and hover at 1 meter infinitely without returning to base. Other things: * Engineer class and FARPs would be nice. * More squad mates. * If you enter the shuttle at base (without requesting it) you could make it transport you to a location pointed by e.g. clicking somewhere on the map, and it will return by itself to base after you've disembarked. Is it possible to edit the AI code? Im having trouble with the AI not sticking to the road while driving e.g. support trucks, so that they get stuck, flip the trucks in tough terrain, etc, and it takes forever for them to drive anywhere if they manage to reach their destination without destroying the truck or getting stuck. I also tried changing their behaviour to 'safe' without effect. Since I now am dependant on the AI to drive trucks around the game has become more of a waiting-for-the-trucks-game
manzilla 1 Posted August 4, 2007 Alright, I spent all night playing and this morning I can't load any of my save files. I restarted the game this morning but when the mission is loading it gets about half way and then CTD and gives me an error "Can not load"(then it shows the path to the save location). Even the older saves which I copied to backup dont work, I've never had a problem loading those before. BTW I'm using the same AddOns I always use and until now i've never had this problem. What the hell is going on?
manzilla 1 Posted August 4, 2007 Is nyone else having a problem loading saves. My post above explains. I just started over and I still can't load a save once I exit the game. I dont get the error message "can not load" anymore but instead get a message that says arma has stopped working. Again, I'm not using any different addons than I usually do. This has never happened before. I wonder if the XAM v1.3 Mod is doing it. Someone please help!
kronzky 5 Posted August 4, 2007 There are still glitches with the ArmA save system, and it can occasionally created corrupted Saves. I'm not aware of any way to restore a Save once it's corrupted. (The only thing you can do is use the rank and city codes.) Independently from that I could very well imagine that the XAM mod can put a mission "over the edge", since Saves can only handle a limited number of variables, and I'm sure XAM is adding quite a few to the setup (I'm only guessing though, since I haven't downloaded the XAM mod myself so far.) manzilla 1 Posted August 4, 2007 I remember this happened in one of the final beta versions also. Come to think of it, it happened when I recruited 6 guys but I wasn't high enough in rank, only sergeant I think. It was a bug I ran into. It let me recruit six guys when it shouldn't and when I tried to load a save it crashed. I started over and only did 3 recruits and it loaded fine. Now. A few days ago I had to start over. I used the sergeant code, killed a bunch in first city, and got the lieutenant code but only had received about 30,000 points.( also when I got to about 35,000 I got the sergeant code again.) Anyway, I had to start over again, used that lieutenant code, recruited 5 more and the saves wouldn't load again. Could the extra guys be what's going on? Mr_Tea 0 Posted August 4, 2007 How many times must i advice to backup the savegames? I posted many times how it can be done in this thread. When the Evolution SP players would follow that advice, corrupted saves would not matter. So have fun with starting over again, and again, and again......, but stop to complain about that. manzilla 1 Posted August 4, 2007 Excuse me?!?! I said I copied them(backed up I meant.) Matter of fact, I have over 600mb of backed up saves and not a single one will work. I spent all morning trying. Don't gimme that garbage. If you are not gonna say anything constructive to help my situation, what's the point of posting? I appreciate that. Read my post that is the fourth above yours. Doesn't it say that?

Mr_Tea 0 Posted August 5, 2007 I rename the saves, and don`t move them to another folder. I never had problems with loading older saves, but they should be made with the same version of Evolution SP that you try to start them with. I made saves in combat situations, they worked fine when i got killed and had to use them, no matter how many AI soldiers i had recruited. Maybe the partition that you use to store the backups is in a bad state? You should test that.
