Yoma 0 Posted April 17, 2007 Hi all ATI users that have the driver handle leak bug. Maybe we can speed up a fix by ATI if we massively report the bug. Fill out the form located at "]http://support.ati.com/ics....rl] I know, it's a wild shot, but trying won't hurt us will it?
Easy_tiger 0 Posted April 17, 2007 Hi, No point m8, ATI are already aware of the problem and this has been confirmed by BIS themselves. Due to the ati's monthly development/QA cycle it looks like the fix didnt make it in time to be included in 7.3.
eziogsv 0 Posted April 17, 2007 ...ATI are already aware of the problem.... really sure? I have submitted a ticket to the ati support, but no-one of the support answered to me that the problem is known and is going to be solved obviously I hope in a quick debug... I can't play ArmA for more than few minutes, then the whole OS crashes
Easy_tiger 0 Posted April 17, 2007 Hi, yes ATI are aware of it, this has been confirmed by Suma ( http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....5;st=45 )
Yoma 0 Posted April 17, 2007 Well even if they are aware of the problem, it doesn't mean they intend to fix it soon! Submitting reports on it will only raise the priority given to a fix. (trust me I work in a company that makes software and it does work like this in the real world) Imagine sitting on a pile of problems, and having 10 problems allmost noone nags about while having 1 problem people bitch about all day: What problem would you fix first? eziogsv 0 Posted April 17, 2007 may be tiger however yoma has reason: if we overlay the ati support with tons of tickets, probably they will move them ass more quickly  edit: i remain of the idea that the catalyst bug is only half of the problem: the other half is the arma code that has to be deeply debugged and optimized... arma is the ONLY game I  had that I can't play after more of two months from the purchase... simply and really incredible on the game package and in the game reviews should be written: "the best FPS of the world.... if and when it works!!" I rest in wait of catalyst 7.4 and Bis 1.6-1.7 patch
LT.INSTG8R 0 Posted April 17, 2007 Actually Im not sure how the ATI Catalyst team is split up now but when the 7.3s came out it was brought up on another forum that one of the actual Catalysts Devs is a regular and he was completely unaware of the issue. I will also surmise that it will be a low priority for them until it has NA release("global"), then it may be pushed up on the list.
eziogsv 0 Posted April 18, 2007 we will see soon....... sure, if even the 7.4 catalyst version will not solve the problem, really someone will have to ask himself if ArmA is a good game or a S**T game (months and months without to solve a big problem: for me it is simply unplayable, at this moment I have spent good money for a game that works only few minuts...) Dwarden 1125 Posted April 18, 2007 well i think AMD.ATI consider Armed Assault as unimportant title (compared to swift response to any STALKER problem including relased hotfix for crossfire users etc)
Yoma 0 Posted April 18, 2007 well i think AMD.ATI consider Armed Assault as unimportant title (compared to swift response to any STALKER problem including relased hotfix for crossfire users etc) I don't play a lot of other games then Arma/OFP. Is it an Arma only issue? Could someone test the 7.3 drivers with some other new games? Anyway don't we live in a totally sick world where good things are liked only by a few and bad things stuff the masses? I would consider it totally sick that ATI would patch it's driver for crapgames and not for a beauty like Arma. Down with money!
max power 21 Posted April 18, 2007 7.4 is out. Apparently, the handle problem has been reduced for those who had the problem.
eziogsv 0 Posted April 19, 2007 lol, 7.4 don't works on my PC. I had to go back to 7.3 incredible
Easy_tiger 0 Posted April 19, 2007 Ive just had a chat to a colleague who is a ex-lawyer about the possibility of BIS/publisher being able to start legal proceedings to maybe speed a fix up His take is that basically its our problem for buying the card in the first place - harsh but after a pretty long debate with him about the legalities of the situation i have been advised to complain and make as much noise as possible. Exposure of ATI's shoddy performance is the only way to ultimately get this problem addressed as until their their market share is significatly threatened  they wont really be that bothered However if this problem is DirectX 9 related then there may be a case as the card technically isnt Dx9 compatible as advertised.... my tune has changed since finding out the problem is still there in 7.4 now im just plain pissed off! Jack-UK 0 Posted April 19, 2007 lol you cant sue a company for bad drivers i dont think :P and BIS certainly wont, they're a tiny company and dont have a huge budget whereas AMD/ATI could fork out for a team of l33t lawyers :P Hammer them with complaints and they'll cave in soon. Easy_tiger 0 Posted April 19, 2007 I dunno... The gfx card and the driver is a package they are useless without each other.
Jack-UK 0 Posted April 19, 2007 You have a point.. but i still think suing for a poor driver is extreme and will never win :P But then again what the hell do i know about law? :P
Yoma 0 Posted April 19, 2007 Ive just had a chat to a colleague who is a ex-lawyer about the possibility of BIS/publisher being able to start legal proceedings to maybe speed a fix up pff lawyers... Complaining is one thing, trying to sue a completely different. I for instance wouldn't ever wanna sue a great company like ati that spurs out great products. We just have to have some patience. Anyway reporting the issue can't hurt i think.
