Jabbah 0 Posted April 11, 2007 Thought i would try the beta ver to see what sorta improvements it made, as armed assault is currently unplayable for me (constant stuttering, poor FPS, HD accessing), and found out, that its even worse!, the fog is still there, FPS now drop too under 30 on the island flyby on startup screen, and what ever i do i just cant get it to work properly. Has ANYONE got this problem, because its driving me mad, i want to play this game so much. Specs are: Intel Core2Duo E6300 @ 3Ghz 4gb DDR2 667Mhz Geforce 8800GTS @ 600core 900RAM Asus P5w 64 WS pro motherboard 4x 80gb SATA II HDs in RAID 0 (giving 200mb/s average transfers) All settings are at high, while AA is at normal. Someone please help me
william1 0 Posted April 11, 2007 i hate Raid 0 , if one of your HD fails , you lose all data in all your 4 HD's
sickboy 13 Posted April 11, 2007 Vista or XP ? Did you check the transfer speed of your drives in a test program btw, or is this simply an estimation/written in the manual thing?

jumpinghubert 49 Posted April 11, 2007 Hi Jabba, there are some settings in Arma you dont need for good looking graphic: set: Postprocessing to low object detail to very low landscape to low (not very low to see grass) AA disabled (if you play 1600x1200) the rest to high/very high I play 1250x960, 1200m viewdistance, all high/very high, AF middle and the rest (postprocessing etc low/very low) in the wood with 30-35 fps and the start scene (rhamadi) with 120 fps. my AGP-Sys: Gecube 1950XT @ 715/827 X2 4200 @ 2,9 Gig 2 Gig MDT sry for my english, regards from germany EDIT: HD-performance has no influence on game-performance! fitzee 7 Posted April 11, 2007 Set HDr to 32 as well. Hi. Does anybody know for sure what the acceptable settings for HDR are? I've tried 16 and at that setting I get no sun glare at all and my framerate is slightly higher. Seems like its disabling HDR rather than increasing it. I prefer it that way some don't. I think it personal prefrence.
Jabbah 0 Posted April 12, 2007 setting changes hardly make any differance
scruffy 21 Posted April 12, 2007 Sorry I can't help with the problem, but I have one remark about this: set:[...] object detail to very low [...] I can not recommend that, it influences the unit draw distance (within the view distance). With object details on minimum I can not see an enemy unit 300m in front of me without using the second-mousebutton-zoom (while the enemy still shoots at me) and it is even more hindering while flying. In the beta I think shader detail makes a huge difference and object detail. I also suspect AA can cause frame stalls when flying and sniping. basically lower everything play some single play stuff and ramp stuff up bit by bit and see if your PC stalls. When you have steady gameplay and good looks you can be happy. Note the great new ARMA video has AA OFF.
Guba 0 Posted April 12, 2007 Jabbah I have a system quite similar to yours (actualy not so good , check my signature) and are running the game without any problems (fps stay around 60 and don't usually go below 30) and with a nice level of graphic detail. Here go a few tips that worked for me: - Update your motherboard bios - If you really love :P the game try creating a dedicated partition for it (with a tool like Partition Magic for instance) and install Windows XP 32 bit on it. - Install latest motherboard and other hardware drivers - Install Nvidia drivers (version 97.92 or beta 101.2) - Configure the drivers to "Performance" setting and make sure that Vertical synchronization is disabled. - Install the game with all patches up to the beta - Configure ArmA the following way: -> View distance: 1200 m -> Resolution: 1024 x 768 -> Left column of settings: Low -> Right column of settings: High - If you need to use a higher resolution disable AA - If it still doesn't work try removing a few chips of RAM and see if there's any difference (That if you really love the game :P) - Also make sure you defragment the game's partition often (it seems to help reduce slowdowns caused by terrain streaming) - Finally post how it went Hope that it helps
