+Sokar 0 Posted April 13, 2007 I as well fail to see proof. Like they are going to release direct real info on what they are going to use in the future... Besides, if they were going to do so.. Why would they have spent the money just last year.. to start replacing every uniform with the ACU? I could be wrong, I'm just thinking it'd be rather stupid & pointless. AdmiralKarlDonuts 0 Posted April 13, 2007 I interviewed a couple of ROTC officers a few months back and asked a Major what he thought of the ACU. His answer was "well, when I stand in front of a computer screen, you can't see me." Doesn't seem that anybody really likes it. You'd think everybody would start wearing MARPAT if the idea was to save money, rather than having every branch of the military start designing its own new uniforms. Throw some velcro panels on there and you're all set.
+Sokar 0 Posted April 14, 2007 Lmao @ pathy, nice. I must admit, i don't know how you all feel about this but i for one think the Army has gotten a little too relaxed with uniform regulations. Velcro patches and nametapes to make things "easier" the loss of having to "iron" the uniforms to make the correct creases... the lack of boots that had to be "shined" to look nice. Personally... what is the Army trying to really do to its soldiers? Training in sweats alot, and sneakers? i don't know, I could be carried away with my opinion but in alot of ways I just think, this ACU kinda puts the idea out there with many other things the Army has done just to make things "easier for our soldiers". da12thMonkey 1943 Posted April 14, 2007 #2 its a US Army Ranger because Navy seals wear BDU's dumbasses. Mate, how many times do you have to be told. The guys in that second picture are SEALs. The name and details of the career of the bloke in the middle carrying the Mk.46/48 have widely been published since his death a few days after that photo was taken. Just Google Michael A. Monsoor for details of the guy. An image search of that name will produce multiple versions of that image. The credibility of the blokes in that image being SEALs is beyond-dispute. The credibility of many of the 'facts' you've produced is questionable to say the least. I don't mean to insult you, I merely want to correct you on this point. Â Hopefully this isn't getting off-topic since it discusses the use of the ACU.

+Sokar 0 Posted April 15, 2007 USMC must be one of those, "I see stuff on the net, it must be right". Before throwing names out there at any of these people, You should really learn in-depth about the US Military, and yes I can back this up. What you also see in somebody's appearance can EASILY mislead and fool you to how they are really fit. Look at our Special Forces, if you think differently, then you have some learning to do. cozza 24 Posted April 15, 2007 Just a Q. In America everyone seem to talk about the Marines like there the second coming. Why is that?
badlymad 0 Posted April 15, 2007 Americans idolize Marines because of the whole mythology they have built around the corps as the forefront of American combat prowess. While the army seems to be associated with a multitude of tasks besides fighting, the marines always have been synonymous with leading the way in a war, partially because they are usually the first American presence in a global hotspot and partially because popular culture has emphasized their victories and other heroic actions through books, movies, television etc. There's probably more than that, but then again, I'm not an American. CameronMcDonald 146 Posted April 15, 2007 Running the risk of being hit by whatever that USMC guy got hit by, I thought that the Future Force Warrior system was indeed based around the eventual acquirement of Multicam by the US Army. Not sure if that still stands however, not being a US citizen myself.

+Sokar 0 Posted April 15, 2007 Usually what the US Military releases to public sources, isnt actually "brand new" Our Govt has a great reputation of, hiding new things and releasing them when they've already made something better just havn't used yet. I'm not saying anything about the FFW system, or the multicam, it's just something to keep in mind.

Nah, not that picture just all by itself, I found an official Army document (on the net of course) outlining the new system, and it was all based around Multicam. I think I was looking for ACU pictures at the time to make textures, but yeah, I was quite interested. I should drag it up again I suppose.

I read somewhere the Multicam uniforms were given by Crye to the US Army for the "Future Warrior" program, just for the free publicity. I wouldn't expect too much of it.
