ratslla 0 Posted April 3, 2007 Hi, Couldn't find this anywhere, but i remember back in my OFP days that we could add ~-nosplash (or something similar) to your .exe file which would skip the intro. Is this possible. and if so does any1 know the trick to do so? I'm not using the quicklaunchtool as thats not working properly for me. Shadow NX 1 Posted April 3, 2007 -nosplash still works
Chris Death 0 Posted April 3, 2007 What Shadow want say is: right click your ArmA shortcut, options and add the -nosplash into the target field at the end. Just adding this since i thought you were asking more for the how than the what. ~S~ CD
suma 8 Posted April 3, 2007 The real benefit of -nosplash is overrated, in reality it is very small with ArmA, as data are loaded in the background while intro screens are displayed. Did anyone really measured the speedup gained by using this flag?
DaRat 0 Posted April 3, 2007 Seems no faster at all for me - I still have to wait the same amount of time just with no splash screens

Did anyone really measured the speedup gained by using this flag? Yeah, you're right Suma it has more the psychological aspect which makes one think everything is under his control in case of ArmA with or without splash screen. I must admit it's been same for me only when i read your post realizing that there's not a significant difference in loading speed. ~S~ CD
sirex 0 Posted April 3, 2007 i always use a -nosplash type flag in any game because i hate branding everytime i load a game "EA SPORTS ! ITS IN THE.......... oh shut up."
guerilla -MCY- 0 Posted April 3, 2007 i think it is a bit faster but i'm using mostly Arma Spy anyway which connects me directly to the multiplayer section really fast
sirex 0 Posted April 3, 2007 just seen the changelog for the public beta Quote[/b] ]"5136 - New: -world=empty command line option for faster game loading (no island and no menu animation loaded)" wicked :-)
Infam0us 10 Posted April 3, 2007 Use ArmA Launcher, it has a option to remove the splash screen in just once click ... and you can also join servers straight away without having to go through multiplayer ingame
clivewil 0 Posted April 3, 2007 those flags didn't seem to shorten loading times when used by themselves, but both together they do, i.e: arma.exe -nosplash -world=empty certainly made for a much quicker startup on my system, anyway...
ratslla 0 Posted April 3, 2007 good to see that it still works, but i keep getting the message that its an invalid path.. Sorry i'm a noob at this, can you gents please specify how to put it in the target box ? Lets say i put it like this.. "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA\arma.exe" arma.exe -nosplash -world=empty ? it states the error invalid target box? I remember i had it with ofp too but i can't figure out the way to fix it.. Thanks again gents!
JdB 151 Posted April 3, 2007 Remove the last "arma.exe" "C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA\arma.exe" -nosplash -world=empty
ratslla 0 Posted April 3, 2007 sweet! i figured it out already.. when hitting apply it gives the error (figures as the target does not excist) but when i just hit "ok" instead of apply it puts it there anyway and it goes pretty fast for me. Thanks again gents!
