Hi Dwarden,

System:

A8N-E S939, AMD X2 4200+, 2 GB Kingston DDR, Ati x1950xtx (Catalyst 7.3), X-Fi Music, 250 GB Samsumg RAID0

Settings:

1280x1024 on 19'' CRT, All high except AA normal, PP low, Viewdistance=1200m

Driver settings:

AA, AF = application controlled

Highquality AF = enabled

Mipmap level = high quality

Catalyst AI = standard

V-Sync off, unless application specifies

Adaptive AA off

OS: WinXp 32 bit, SP2

I have absolutly no clue whats the difference to those who have the problem. Already tried if its a certain setting, like Adaptive AA, which i have turned off, cause its eating too much performance.

As mentioned, i tested about 20 minutes in a campaign mission. Maybe that was not enough. I'm just a bit too busy at the moment, to do some hardcore test. Have to finish my diploma thesis till next wednesday, and theres still a lot of work to do.  banghead.gif

Waited ages for this new ATI driver...installed fine..

ArmA still has the graphical bug (resolution of textures drops over time, and just get worse)

Huge disappointment, not only that, the game crashes to desktop 10 or so minutes in with a memory error.

Here's my pc specs:

OS: Vista Ultimate 64bit

HDD:Seagate Barracuda 400gb

CPU: Pentium 4 3.4ghz (i know, plans to buy a core2quad extreme smile_o.gif )

RAM: 2GB (2x1gb sticks) Ballistix ddr2 pc2 8000

GPU: Ati Radeon x1600 PRO 512mb PCI-E

Mobo: Asus Commando

This just validates my belief that the PC, PS3(<--- overrated, and just plain crap), and Xbox360 arn't (always) good for entertainment! (and i'm still trying to build a "Gaming rig" as you might have guessed from my current specs, now i'm having doubts!wink_o.gif

Wii rules! :P.

well i tried your setting (equal) and after 10m fly (editor placed heli on north sahrani)

following main roads ... 7500 handles ...

2k viewdistance rest same ...

only what i can think off as main difference i use Core2Duo and i got enabled multithreading in ATI drivers ...

Is there a way to enable multithreading without Ati Tray Tools? Cant find a setting in CCC.

Used to enable it with my old X850xt with Omega-Drivers and ATT.

Cant imagine that the different cpu is the cause.

ok multithreading enabled/distabled/none ... no difference (played with ATT setttings) ...

i'm out of options lol

e.g. just first demo jumps to 1500 handles while playing

it's rasing by 5-10 handles / second while camera moves ...

(up to 50/s when settings on high used)

Thats really weird... cant confirm that at all, will make a screenshot of my handle count, after intro has run.

Another setting i forgot to mention, VPU Recover is disabled, though i doubt its the cause.

As you said, no more ideas. Sorry.

I'm using the german version (well, I am german), after 1.05 I did a fresh install and patched direct from 1.00 to 1.05, cause I was using the language mod. Didn't want to frickle around with that stuff, so I uninstalled and deleted all stuff in my documents&settings folder.

As promised, I made some shots of the intro movie, while taskmanager shows the handle count. All files are under 100k, so I hope I dont break any forum rules.

Dont know why I dont have the handle leak...

Hi there

No handle leak here either. Running a massive battle for about 45 mins and arma.exe handles were around 256.

Memory useage seemed pretty low at only 270mb or so.

XP64 SP1

A64 3500+ @2.65Ghz

2GB Corsair TwinX ddr400

3x120GB HDDs 2 SATA and 1 IDE

Sapphire X1950 Pro AGP 512MB

MrZig - what's Your CPU ? You said You get no leak ...

FatWombat - what's CPU ? You said You still get handle leak...

also if i remember correct there is no leak in Vista 32/64 drivers and maybe Windows 64b? (yet i would like to see this confirmed on Intel platform)

As for now, it seems the memory leak is no longer present for me either. I'm running an amd setup with ati brand x850s.

ASUS a8r32 mvp deluxe

AMD athlon 64 x2 4400+

2 gigs of ram

Handle leak is still here for me!

First attempt of installing drivers resulted in 2 instances of msiexec to launch and i had to kill one of them to start the installation. After the reboot my pc restarted itself but 3rd time lucky all seemed stable .....

The good ol artifact glitch was soon back though not so frequent, i found switching 2 optics seemed to correct it. Gameplay soon deteriated to around 1/2 fps and when i tried to restart arma i got a nice BSOD referring to a page fault in a non paged area caused by a ati dll!

Im feeling robbed as my old radeon 9800 is currently more useful than my brand spanking new x1950pro!

Specs:

P4 3.0Ghz 800Mhz FSB

2x 512Mb Branded PC3200 DIMMS

Intel Desktop Motherboard

Sapphire Radeon x1950Pro 512Mb AGP 8X

God i'm so sick of this, i got this message before 7.3 drivers, but nowhere near as often, once per hour, if that. only problem was the "blurred" low res textures that appeared(which still made the game unplayable, its impossible to enjoy a game in that condition)

but now with 7.3, not only am i still getting the graphical issue, i'm getting the crash to desktop with that "cannot creat system memory" bs..within 10 minutes of starting the game!.

for this one try use  -maxmem=1023 (it should work up to 2047 but over 1023 i get either CTD or same crash like You even with 2 or 3 GB memory)

if You already use smaller value then try drop it e.g. to half etc ...

Yeah I see what you're on to with this question. Anyone with AMD have this handle leak?

No leak. Awful awful memory usage tho, sometimes it'll be so bad that when I try and alt tab or close ArmA, my computer will reset into a ati2vdag blue screen error.

how do you show handles in Task Mananger. I can't see anything like that i only get: Image Name, User Name, CPU, Mem Usage

Goto "View" > "Choose Columns" and tick "Handle Count"

I'm beginning to see something of a pattern here- of course, the only way to prove it is to have noone contradict our hypothesis. Please, anyone who is willing to investigate please do. Even so, I'm sure that you can go to ATI.AMD with our findings on this thread so far.. that is, that they've somehow managed- perhaps by conspiracy- to shaft those who are using their competetor's chipsets!
