The_Pharoah 0 Posted March 26, 2007 is it really that bad? I mean heck, I can't even see sideways! surely they wouldn't restrict the view of the pilot

Col. Faulkner 0 Posted March 26, 2007 The one in ArmA is a sheer travesty of the capabilities of the real HOKUM (just like most of the other vehicles). If they'd built the KA-50 in about 1950 then the ArmA one would probably be a realistic representation of it. Â
Cosmonaut 0 Posted March 26, 2007 Yeah the cockpit looks pretty accurate in terms off visibility/ Here's a few vids; http://www.patricksaviation.com/videos/Force_Feedback/485/ http://www.patricksaviation.com/videos/SAS73/508/ And here's what a detailed model looks like http://www.lockonskins.co.uk/linkcounter.php?LID=
The_Pharoah 0 Posted March 26, 2007 jeez thats horrible. I watched the making of the new US armed rec heli (can't remember name) and one of the biggest things that had to keep in mind was visibility for the pilot - how are you supposed to keep 'all round combat awareness' when you can only look straight! lol....never mind the soldier standing 10ft away on your left with an RPG or AT4 or something! ahh well.... Well nowadays your "all round combat awareness" comes from your other squadron members flying in formation with you and from the extensive battery of avionics, target and threat detection, countermeasures and survivability systems. Almost none of this is modelled in ArmA, though, so it's little wonder that it seems less than impressive.
max power 21 Posted March 26, 2007 Still, though, if you can set the view distance to 3.5 km's or so, you can use that neato guncam view and launch missiles at targets over a km away... those hit at least 30 percent of the time at that range!
colligpip 0 Posted March 26, 2007 anybody know a script that can remove the cockpit
hardrock 1 Posted March 27, 2007 anybody know a script that can remove the cockpit That's not really possible by scripting (unless with some ugly hacking), you'd have to modify the model or the textures for that.
