New 3rd person camera view

There is no bin folder.The only word bin is in the Dta folder and it's a pbo file.Should I replace it?

yes but make an copy of your Dta folder because the Dta folder that you just dl will be replaceing it. So yes replace it

Tried it, it said that it couldn't load something.Then I replaced it with the original one and renamed the new one, stuck it into the Dta folder and once again it didn't work.

ok ok did you make an copy of your Dta? So what you did is dl this addon right, and then you put the Addon floder wich haves the crosshair pbo in your Addon folder right. You just put the crosshair pbo in your addon folder ok, and the Dta folder wich has the Bin pbo in it you put the Bin pbo in your Dta folder ok. If your dl this addon and an error comes up its not dl right and your not getting all the nesseray things you need to make this addon work. You do not have to rename anything ok just dl this addon and put the crosshair pbo that is in the addon folder in your ArmA Addon folder, then put the the Bin pbo wich is in the Dta folder you put this in your ArmA Dta folder try this

I tried to take the crosshair .pbo from the close version but it didn't work. I'm not sure if this matters but both crosshair .pbo's have the same details(size, date/time, etc.).

Anyway, I just want to make sure you will be around for a little while longer(that is if you still are checking this post). I'm gonna try a few things and then get back to you if nothing else works. I think I know what's going on. I had it working before this current release but I wasn't using the new view, only the crosshair.

I'll be back on this post in 15-20min or so.

I still can't get the small dot crosshair to work on either close or far versions of the update. I've tried everything I can think of. Is anyone else having this problem or know of a possible Addon or mod file that may be the problem?

It work prior to the latest release but now I can't get it to show up. I'm stumped.

For anyone who might care:

I think my 2 day battle to get the small dot crosshair to work for me again is near it's end. This morning I created a new ArmA shortcut and left every mod folder command out of the Target line and only put -mod=NewView_v0.6 instead. And of course, the small dot crosshair was there.

Needless to say, one of the new modfolders I put in the main ArmA directory between June 21st and June 22nd is the culprit. For me at least, one of the user made items posted to armaholic.com on either june 21/june 22 that I've downloaded is not allowing the small dot crosshair to appear(but both new views work.)

I'm gonna figure it out when I get back in a couple hours but until then if anyone knows which recent item is the cause please let me know. I'm sure it's posted somewhere on the BI forums but, alas, I'm too lazy to look.

For getting this to work extract the zip to your arma dir when you have extracted the zip a new folder should be created called NewView_v0.6 and in that folder there should be 2 directories called AddOns and Dta and in them sould be one .pbo in each of them. Then you need to add the command line to your arma shortcut ( the one on your desktop right click it and select properties and where it says target put) -mod=NewView_v0.6. Then boot up the game and enjoy!

Example ""C:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA\arma.exe" -mod=NewView_v0.6 -mod=ModWarSound -mod=SIX_Misc -mod=SIX_Tracers -nosplash -world=empty" this is from my shortcut.

NOTE: this is ONLY for 1.08!

Also ive been playing with the settings again and came up with a few ill re-release a new version with 3 different views so you can use what ever one sutes you.

That hasn't been working for me. The views will work but not the crosshair. As i stated above, I had to remove all other modfolder commands and only put NewView_v0.6 in the target line and it worked.

I think the new Swiss Modv1.1 is causing the problem but I won't no for sure until I get back in 2 hours from now.

Any idea what may be going on?

I mean -mod=NewView_v0.6 in the shortcuts target line, of course

try the newview mod to be the first to be loaded before the swiss mod! And maybe the swiss mod is canceling it out not sure.

dude, this is a great addon and i hope that marek and the others take notice. the camera is sweet and i think it is a good thing to have this type of 3rd person view. great work!

I tried to put newview first but that didn't fix it. I think it's the new Swiss Mod v1.1 that is causing the problem. I just got home so I'll figure it out and let you what I find.

Here's what I found out. It seems the "Cfg NoTracer+Weapons" mod folder is the problem.(The most recent release posted on Armaholic june 19th). I took @NoTracer out of the target line and your new crosshair shows up.

In the NoTracerReadMe at the end of part 2.) under installation, i think it is showing a way to add the file to the target line when multiple folders are present but i can't figure what it says to do.

Anyway, I left it out of the target line and the small dot is back.

dude, you should not have to keep "tweaking" your addon to suit other people. you have provided different versions of the addon and some people will never be pleased. i'm totally cool with the near version because it brought a "cool" perspective to the game and all i did was thank you for it.

you got some talent and i would rather see you move on to other things to enhance the game. your mod is fine and does the job, so people just need to leave you alone and take the mod for what it provides.

I like the view its a little closer the v0.6 ya cant see the feet of the unit can you zoom out just an little to show the units feet? This is great i love this view plz keep it up Also is the unit in the center of the screen instead of the far left?

Aye you speak the truth! It does wind me up though when ppl arnt satisfied with my settings and keep requesting but hey guess it comes with the territory. I do like the near version too my self it adds a bit more action if you know what i mean. Thanks for the appreciation. Im thinking of somthing else to try at the mo but not sure. I want somthing changed like this little mod but not so everyone has to have it to work. Thinking of trying to change the default soldier textures with some other ones.

some one just had to say this. hedcrusha does this because he likes what he is doing yes, and yes he gots talent and it shows but addon makers get info from the community and peoples comments and helps them get facts of peoples opinions and they take it and do what thay can with it. I like more the view in the 0.4 version, but that file don't work in the 1.08 version of the game

In v0.6 it just lovely but the units is just way off to the left of the screen, if could put the unit in the middle of the screen would just be awsome that would be the lovelys view in 3rd person
