Radar...

i think radar need some change for friendly / foe ID ...

i mean on battlefield it usually take some time to identify uknown vehicles before You sure it's enemy and not local friendly forces

so it may be fair if "fresh" detected vehicle is shown as yellow (danger) instead of RED / WHITE / GREEN (even i think friendly vehicles identify process should be way faster) ...

but when You think more and more about you realize it's quite complex task to do "RIGHT" (keeping sort of realism and fun) ingame smile_o.gif

well , let's hope some modders get it RIGHT smile_o.gif

Yep, it is too easy. Check my Cobra vid in which i do exactly this.

Now if only the radar wouldn't IFF it would be much harder and much more realistic/fun ... One could argue that the video mission would become too hard. Agreed but the mission designer just could tweak the mission towards more realistic objectives like 'take out the 4 ammo trucks' i.s.o. just 'take out the whole bloody convoy' :):)

As said, it must be easily possible for BIS to take out the automatic IFF (or optionize it). I would welcome such a patch (but i don't intend to do it myself thru modding, as i'm very low on time already;)

ARMA players are already complaining that tank combat is too hard

I strongly disagree on that, right now tanks are really stupid and ultra simplistic to use which I find disappointing.

When I bought ArmA I wasn't expecting Steel Beast PRO exactly, but I was however expecting atleast some kind of RL tank features which goes beyond the common arcade shooter.

It's not un common for me to get scores like this in MP with a tank operated solely by myself crazy_o.gifkrashallkapitalistscl8.jpg

Now as amusing as this may be I still find it to be not very realistic and therefore goes against my wishes on how ArmA should be.

PS: I still no freakin' idea what radar you guys are talking about tounge2.gif

All my kills are done on visual observation of behavior and uniform/vehicle type etc.

Nothing in combat is fair - this is a game and you can take a chance to test some more creative tactics.....

BIS should make a better air defence

Shilka -> Tunguska M1 or/and Pantsyr S1

Vulcan -> SLAMRAAM or/and Avenger Air Defence System

...and Pilots have to think faster wink_o.gif

Actually I've been driving a tank in MP battles quite often, but I never saw a radar ? I know what sort of radar you mean from OFP. The square shaped box up center that allows for acquiring targets.

Are you sure it can't be disabled in the servers difficulty presets ?

The radar is much needed on ground vehicles now, more than what it was or is in OPF if you are battling a.i. If you want to find out why play the SP mission Armored Fist. A T72 and BMP killed my 3 abrams before my men even considered opening fire, wrong hdr lighting makes everything too dark inside the comanders turret, sights are dirty and have no magnification... its already close to impossible how it is.

I agree. I often find that my gunner warns me of an enemy vehicle way before i can even see it. I only play SP so the visual targeting system for tanks would just not work. In MP it would also only work if both blufor and opfor where not controlled by AI.

I will agree on the fact it is very easy to "tab" lock your targets, but in flashpoint i never used this key. I just used the moveable targeting cursor which doesn't seem to work in ArmA.

you got radar in various positions of some vehicles, but not all. Eg you get radar for commander of m1a1 but not as driver/gunner.

Yeah i agree on this, its kinda wierd to have the 'radar' im pretty sure in real life they dont have them in tanks :P

BUT... for those with lower rigs who require low View distance it can be a necessity.. :S its hard to get the balance though...
