how do i make the brefing text?

Recommended Posts

Maybe by using the search Function of the board?

I'm absolutely sure this question has been asked already in the past 6 years.

Hi dude,

WOlle suggestions are really helpful aren't they. So much for community.

I have struggled to find stuff too. As AA is new to me and I never played OFP everything is new and most of what you want to find is likely to be in the OFP sections and not AA.

Have a look at the Wiki, it's very useful. As for your specific query have a look here ( in an OFP section of the Wiki )

This forum is a hostile place and it seems that the moderators do their best to make it even worse.

Better place for beginners is definitely at http://www.ofpec.com/. All the friendly people are there.

Best Wishes,

Baddo.

This forum is a hostile place and it seems that the moderators do their best to make it even worse.

Come come now, the mission makers should also to make some effort and try to find some turorials and to browse the apropriate sites a bit to gain the basic knowlege and information about the mission editing, not just to post a sentence(s) like 'how do i make this?, how do i make that?...' (on which was most probably answered a hundred of times in the past already), and then expecting a miracle to happen.

And I think when answering W0lle was not there in moderator's but in member's role, and I think his answer was absolutely correct and fair. Thou maybe in his answer he also could provide some useful links for a dude ...

@operation madman

This can't be answered just in one simple sentence as your question is, and I doubt you'll understand much of the explanation so yes, do some searching and above all get yourself some tutorials. Go on OFPEC as Baddo is suggesting, and also check this: http://www.opflashpoint.org/mission_tutorials.php?v=4. See, a minute or two of browsing ...  wink_o.gif

Download Chris' OFP Script Editor here.

It has a wizard for Briefings and Overview, and a lot more useful stuff.

@karantan

Right, usually I provide links but after all it's not that bad to search this forum section for "Briefing". Plus I was in a hurry, too.

@Suvv

Yep you're right mate, I'm totally useless for the community.

Glad to know you do better support, we all are looking forward to your constructive comments and answered questions.

Agree and my point exsactly. It's kinda annoying to do the other's work; if we had the time and the will for it ...

@operation madman

Have you checked the links we've provided to you? Sorry, but don't quite understand what do you mean by the 'locating' thing. Can you be more specific?

Well WOlle,

Sorry to offend, and I have noticed your contributions to the forums, but, like I say, things are difficult to find at times, especially when you are new to the game and might not realise that the game is OFP in new clothes.

It's also clear that english is not "operation madman's" first language, he has mis-spelled [sic] breefing, so a search would have been fruitless for him.

Anyway, I'm sure he has found the solution he was looking for.

Keep smiling,

Suvv.

Save it as briefing.html in your missions folder.

about what?Do you mean the location of your mission folder?

Briefing goes in here:

C:\program files\codemasters\operation flashpoint\users\YourName\

YourMissionName.

Is that what you meant?

When you say it's not working,

what exactly is happening?

Nothing?

Does the briefing show up?

Is it not responding to completed objectives?

Are you using the exact same briefing for

all those missions?

Give us a little more info.

Have you tried creating a new one?

That could help.It wouldn't take too long,

and it would be a good chance to try out

"Chris's Ofp script editor". wink_o.gif

Every burger-flippin time i try to make briefing, it doesnt work... correctly. crazy_o.gif

What I really hate about breifing is "you cannot fix it if you mess up". You have to start over if you mess up. crazy_o.gif

Of course you can fix it.

It's just a html document.

If you open "Briefing.html" even with "notepad",

or a similar text editor,you can then change it.

Then resave it and there you go.Just pay attention

to the arrangement of the fields.Otherwise it might not

display correctly "inGame".Stay inside the arrows to avoid

messing up your text.

You shouldn't have to keep recreating it.

The reason I suggested Chris's OFP script editor was

to speed things up a bit.It will also set up the

correct fields for you.As I understand it,OFP likes

the Briefing and Overview set up a particular way.

So I use that to create a basic template,then

edit the file manually in a text editor.

As always I'm open to correction.

This is just my particular method.
