Things that Flashpoint could and Arma not

Recommended Posts

I am a "proud" owner of a german SE and at the moment I keep playing Flashpoint because Arma have one of the worst control systems I saw in a long time!

What I mean?

Well just a example: In Flashpoint there are 61 possible keys to use

in Arma there are 135 thats more then double compared with flashpoint. A usual keyboard has about 108 keys that means I have to use my hole keybord to contol Arma and even that is not enough because some keys I have to use double.

The control of a game should almost be intuitive because so soon I find myself in a combat I dont want to think about my keyboard I would like to focus my attention on the combat! The best example is flying a helicopter compared to Flashpoint its simply a disaster. I realy hope we can expect improvements here.

PS: The post is primary adressed on BIS to express my criticism as a customer over the product I received.

greetings silver

Ehrm...

Bis added shift states, and different approaches for the keys, you dont need to use everything. Besides, 135 keys, maybe yes, but thats divided over all the different types: Drive, Fly, Foot etc. Which means many of the keyboard keys are just double used...

Have you tried practicing? Or perhaps changing the controls until you're confortable with them?

I hate all these spamming whiners. At least they have the game, the only game even worth spending the money to buy at the moment. Most of the other recent games suck.

Just revert them back to how they were in ofp, and don’t use the new features such as leaning and rolling... icon_rolleyes.gif

I fail to see how the title of the topic and it's content fit together.

And you know you can change your controls right?

I'm quite sure you can get it to be pretty close to the OFP controls.

I kept the original control scheme except for right click bringing up the sights, that screwed up my playing wink_o.gif

After the change I don't want to got back to OFP controls smile_o.gif

IL-2 has many more controls than that! Somehow, people survive. Shift states for controls are pretty sweet. IL-2 had shift, ctrl and alt. It's not too complex. You'll figure out which controls you really need, which ones you can get by with in the action menu, and which ones you don't really need to map at all.

You can change the controls realy?! Thanks for the smart advice volks ... If you are happy about it good for you but save your breath because this thread is about something else.

@penaut if you are able to change the keyboard settings in a way that I can fly a helicopter/plane similar to flashpoint you will get a cookie.

Something else? Then what is it about, because it looks to me like you are complaining about a control scheme which you can actually change. I don't see how this thread is about "Something else".

I didn't talk about chopper did I?

And you only said it is the best example, which is not true. The handling of the choppers changed and I admit they are flawed. Ka-50 and Mi-7 are the best examples for this, they aren't very controllable. I had some fun with the Cobra and the Little Bird though.

You can't change much about the choppers handling through keyboard controls.
