Wilco 944 Posted November 30, 2006 Here it is everyone, the unfinished addon of Vix Stryker that seemingly disappeared from the OFP Modding community. I decided to take over this project after Vix was unable too, but I got little to no help. So without further wait, here you go. http://www.sendspace.com/file/g6kjgi The AddOn is configed but you won't be able to use it in any missions because Gunner is sticking out of the turret. The only use it has is to see it in OFP and take some screenshots with it. I'm hoping someone takes this up and either makes it for OFP or ArmA, hopefully both. Imshi-Yallah 0 Posted November 30, 2006 And here was I feeling all special The Irish Defence Pack has obtained permission to use this addon as the basis of some Irish Piranha IIIHs. Piranha IIIH versions in Irish Service (Or soon to be) are an APC with an FVT800 turret (so please if anyone knows of a model for this in existence let us know) An OTO Melara HITFIST turret (We currently have a basic model but if someone has one finished again PLEASE let us know) And a version with the same RWS fitted to the Stryker. If we can source/complete the other two turrets then all we'll have to do is retexture and tweak. I won't make any promises this time. If we get it done you'll know on the release date. Now I'm going to go and try this thing out so I can post congratts to Vixer and Wilco. Edit: So people are forewarned, the following things are unfinished with this addon. 1. The Driver and Gunner proxies will need to be moved. 2. Without messing around with above I can't tell but I assume that no drivers view has been included. 3. The underside of the chassis is still part untextured. 4. The config values etc are completely undeveloped as presumably the config was used only to test the visuals of the the vehicle ingame i.e. 15 rounds of 5.56x45mm will cause this vehicle to explode. Imshi-Yallah 0 Posted November 30, 2006 Wilco can probably go into more detail than me on this, but all it really seems to need is a bit of texture work, a config and the Crew proxies moved in 02. The rear cabin is fully textured, all visible external faces of the vehicle were fully textured. I'm sure it wouldn't take a competent config writer very long to do up a shiny new config. miles teg 1 Posted December 1, 2006 If nobody is going to fix it up, I can ask Calm Terror from my mod team to see if he can fix it up a bit. Fixing the head so that its not sticking out is easy to do. However the gunner position will NOT be usable by the player at least in the 1st person view. Only in the 3rd person perspective will can a player use it. This is due to game engine limitations which hopefully are solved in ArmA. Nevertheless the addon can be made to be a very usable AI crewed wheeled IFV just for getting you and your squad in and out of a battle area or for support during a raid or to dammage or destroy enemy IFV's depending on how the .cpp config stuff is set for the weapon and gunner. What is more important however, in my opinion, is the lack of a slat armor cage. The slat armor is essentially what often makes the difference between life and death in Iraq. It's not always 100% effective but it makes a big difference in the number of RPG penetrations. As is without the slat armor, its basically RPG bait. At any rate, is anyone else going to update it(and keep it as a US Army Stryker)? If so is it a serious project or just a side project that may take many months? Because if its not a serioius project, I might be able to convince Calm Terror to fix it up, something he is really good at doing and that he could probably do fairly quickly if most of the major texturing work and LOD's are already done. miles teg 1 Posted December 2, 2006 Yaeh, I think there was BW Mod Dingo armored car addon that had a remote turret (similar to the Stryker's but smaller) which operated the same way. It didn't really have a gunner view and could only be fired from 3rd person. Still it worked great if you had a AI gunner or didn't mind shooting from the 3rd person view. But generally I just used it in missions as transportation with AI crew and as a armed escort for convoys of trucks in Afghanistan maps. If someone could move the gunner position that will be great and it will be usable,I don't mind shooting from third person,with a lot of other armor I do the same. echo1 0 Posted December 4, 2006 Took a look inside the P3D, theres another version of the Stryker with Slat armour which doesnt have any of the missing textures, however it still requires the Inside views and whatever proxies to be fixed up, which is beyond my skill level Im afraid The textures are there in the P3D to fix the underside and antennae of the Non-Slat armoured Stryker, its just that the p3d has the wrong path, should be simple to change.
