Drongo69 117 Posted August 8, 2006 Quote[/b] ]Will you make a multiplayer version of this campaign? I reckon it would be great for 2-5 players on LAN, or even more if both sides were playable. Isn't it possible to also transfer information between multiplayer missions? It's certainly possible, and originally CAE was being designed in a single-mission PBO format. However, such a project is a low priority for me at the moment. But if anyone else wants to try, be my guest. Quote[/b] ]how do i port this to other islands do i just un compress it copy each mission over and then put it into a campaign i have no idea? Could somebody point me to the right tools to do this if possible. De-pbo the file, and look in the \missions folder. Drop these in to your user missions folder and edit them as you see fit (keep the same names however). Then drop them back in the de-pboed \missions folder and re-pbo. Important: make sure that you change the "cae_xxx" entries in \save\save.sqs and load.sqs.
Zendjir 0 Posted August 19, 2006 Hi Tacrod, I tried out your campaign, here is some feedback: - Overall I think the campaign is great, I love dynamic missions and a dynamic campaign is even better Thank you for this. - The layout and the way you implemented squad management is superb, nice and simple with no obsolete functions. - The campaign I played was bugged though; I lost even though I won every mission (by selecting 'mission completed' in the HQ screen after the 'enemy broken' hint appeared). - The randomness of MBT's and IFV's is indeed, not nice. Maybe you could make it so that the armor is not random but part of your standard platoon. For every 3 men in the armored section of the platoon you get an MBT. Or you can make it so that the player can purchase vehicles to join his platoon. - I find that the freedom in each mission is severely limited by the fact that the enemy appears almost immediatly after the battle starts. I want to be able to set ambushes and to plan out my defence. - The enemy is very predictable in the defend missions, they just rush you from 1 direction, there are no surprises. - I second what others have to say about the lack of variety, you currently have only 2 types of mission. I hope these comments help you. PS. you could consider using my extended AI script, makes battles alot more exiting :
colligpip 0 Posted October 3, 2006 Any update on this at all I really enjoyed it when I played it.
Drongo69 117 Posted October 4, 2006 Sorry to say, I haven't updated this at all. I have about half a dozen projects on the go at the moment, in varying states of completion (perhaps I should say "incompletion"). CAE is at the bottom of the list at the moment. Perhaps when I get some of my other stuff finished (or get bored), I will return to it. Of course, if anyone else feels like improving/updating CAE, please feel free to do so. I will provide what support I can
zwobot 22 Posted October 5, 2006 This is about the same idea as the other DMA dynamic missions and I like it especially because you are in command of a whole platoon. But why haven't you used CoC's Command Engine ? It would fit perfectly.
sim 0 Posted October 5, 2006 I haven't actually played this but by the sounds of things tacrod hasn't used CoC because he wanted to create his own Command Engine, a far more easier to use one. I might download it and give it a try.
zwobot 22 Posted October 6, 2006 Mh okay, but there is also a "light version" of the command engine. I cannot understand why people always have to do things from scratch that are already there
Drongo69 117 Posted October 7, 2006 When I started CAE, I wanted a simple command engine that was quick and straightforward. Also, I often prefer to do my own scripting so that I have full control (and understanding) of what is going on. For example, I wanted the friendly infantry squads to automatically lie down when they reach their objective, etc. Maybe this could all have been acheived by the light version of the CE, but I didn't hear about this until CAE was almost released. colligpip 0 Posted October 7, 2006 I think that CAE is quite different to COC and very worthy. I am suprised there are not more versions of this sort of thing. CAE worked really well in giving the impression of a ongoing campaign fighting for different cities etc. If you could combine this with your dynamic missions then that would be really good methinks- you could get called on a mission with several platoons to manage would be very interesting.
