Why doesn't the waypoint show up?

Hi all

Just new to mission editing here.

Have a question:

When I made a waypoint in the Mission Editor and test in with the previewbutton, nothing will show up, I have downloaded and readed (partitially) the Uber Referance Guide from Mercilless Creations, but not sure how to follow it.

(I play this mission as a civilian btw)

How do I control a SCUD launcer?

I mean, how can I pinpoint where it will strike?

And yet another question:

What is the best strategy (and the therefor needed codes) to start as a induvidual (West/East/Civ, whatever)and let people join you (the ppl are scattered around a island) in your team?

By default, when you launch OFP the mission editor is in "Veteran" mode, even if you have set the difficulty in your options to "Cadet". And in Veteran difficulty waypoints doesn't appear ingame if i remember well.

To make the mission editor showing the waypoints, it must be in Cadet mode.

So just before going to the editor after you launch OFP, just load a single player mission with the Cadet difficulty, quit it and then launch the mission editor.

The waypoints will then appear ingame when you will preview.

i didnt think it showed in the editor at all.. i always thought to see the waypoints it had to be saved to sp/mp.. lol ah well..

also just a sugestion you should look at a taturial why its good not to use player waypoints.. it has its advantages and disadvantages.. lol

To keep it difficult?

Veteran is supposed to offer you a better simulation of what people think of "realism", and so contribute to the difficulty of knowing your environment, using the maps, compass, etc...

eg. when i go to visit dear old mother and she asks me to run a message for her to the corner shop.. a big yellow box comes up above the shop and counts down the distance in metres i have left to the shop biggrin_o.gif

surely the waypoints should still show in vet mode if the waypoint is set to "always show" like in first screenshot ?

The "Always show" means that the waypoints always appear drawn on the map during the game, with the lines and all, it does not refer to the ingame yellow square that you see on top of the corner shop wink_o.gif

New Question:

I have this mission storyboard:

Go to the main base at Levie and wait for futher instructions.

Ok now how can I trigger something that will give new orders (via radio) after... say... a break of 2 minutes after touching down the ground with my helicopter?

And how do I radio in back up teams (say Bravo: Tanks squad and Alpha: Infantry squad, and with all the things that come around with it>?

I have a theory that works fr me. (Only hav cwc 1.46) choose A single mission, or vampaign game, abort, then choos mission editor. Hope it works for ye! smile_o.gif

Sorry to say but you are dumb, or didn't read the rest of the topic.

I know how to make missions, only some of the things of scripting is vague to me.

A real answer please!?

The question was already answered in the first reply. You can't get the waypoint marker in veteran mode except for vehicles with radar since you can't enable extented HUD info for it. You could continuously give the exact direction and distance to WP as a titleText on-screen or have some other workaround if you must.

With a script (command ~120) or a trigger (countdown 120s) then give the new orders with sideChat or something.

Sync radio trigger with waypoints for example. You make the sync by pressing F5 (or select synchronize) and drag a line between what ever you are syncing. AI won't leave the synchronized WP until you give the radio call.
