OFP Airshow

Herro,

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in participating in an OFP airshow of sorts. I would make a map with a bunch of aeroplanes on Nogova or on some other island and then people could fly them (in an ORGANIZED MANNER) and show off their pwnage skillz and such to all the cheering fans. It could possibly be simulcast (just a cool word) over TS2 or Ventrilo as well...

I have a dedicated server and the game and Ventrilo are already installed... so... would anyone be interested? Send me an AIM or ICQ or web-o-gram or whatever if you want to help out.

Lol, sure if we get nice planes and my PC can handle it. Let's hope that all goes well... I'm a fairly crazy pilot. Flying upside down at 5m is fun...

Let's just hope that it doesn't end up like Ramstein incident.

Got FS2004 (with tons of addon planes), LOMAC and Pacific Fighters installed on my machine along with a fairly good joystick (MS Sidewinder FF2), so this idea of OFP flightshow sounds fun. Might not be the best pilot, especially when it comes to OFP attacking (and flight modelling), but as said, I'm wacko.

got a whacking ggreat x-52 joysick but for ofp i prefer the ,mouse.

Maybe a custom island would be better, like with lots of cool bridges and tall buildings and stuff but simple enough so you can keep view distance somewhere around 1600 or more.

Flying a plane with a mouse is very restricted in ofp. You can't fly upside down, roll, loop etc like you can with a stick (weird and unnecessary limitation btw). I prefer flying combat helos with a mouse though because targeting is too slow without it.

Also devastating in V-80, you can use the cannon/sight with the mouse. Fun for picking off inf. though.

I always thought the freelook would be disabled - automatically centering view as soon as you move the joystick?

How about keeping it simple, A-10´s do fine in aerobatics for me, although something with afterburner would be good to have aswell.

A few years ago, my squad (SWAF) thought of doing exactly this, not only an airshow, but a 'military parade' , shame the idea never materialised. An event such as this would surely require quite a bit of preparation. Wouldn't be very impressive if a formation loop could only be completed on the 16th attempt

this airshow is a very cool idea, you should use gmi camera tool also so people can join and watch the show, i would be interested in watching this show

My comp sucks, so I don't want to watch planes at 5fps (:p) and I don't have a joystick so I can't fly z0mg-h4xx0r-style.

Or, something like that.

Could be either fun, or extremely annoying, with people getting disconnected and complaining to get the mission restarted (Missions with more than 5ish people tend to end up like that, espically in this sort of mission, with random people showing up from different timezones etc )

Interesting idea, aslong as you can force everyone to get in the mission at a specific time, and don't restart for one or two people who accidently quit

{Edit} Oh, other possible problems, the ammount of addons.. Try and not require everyone to download 300 different planes, and make sure their from reliable mirrors (OFP.info, for example), and if there are a lot, direct-ish links to them would help, don't use unnessariry addons etc

afaik Major Fubar once used a (omg..) global calendar tool (..lol) for the CIA coop nights to coordinate all the players, that´d be most useful here aswell, guess it´s time to dig up forsearch...

So, when is ti going to be? I'd like to fly couple of laps . You could use Afganeveron or similar desert island, to reduce lag. And remove all the ammo from the planes, it could turn up to be total chaos . The idea is great, don't give up.

You could use Leonardo's airscrew, jetpacks, James Bond microplanes, autogiro, baloons, ultralight planes and other great and crazy addons.
