Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted June 22, 2006 good luck finding a downloadserver with a better rate than 45kb!
berghoff 11 Posted June 22, 2006 There are quite few servers out there that go with 800kb/s Just tested the game and its quite a cool experience with level design
NeMeSiS 11 Posted June 22, 2006 Meh, im back on my old PC after my newest one died, anyone knows the system specs?
berghoff 11 Posted June 22, 2006 Same as doom3 I think, works fine with max on 9800pro.
Nemesis6 0 Posted June 22, 2006 60% done as I'm writing this. I don't really see how this resembles Decent, being a first-person shooter and all, but anyway, looks good from the screenshots I guess. Thanks for mentioning this, looks like something I might just be interested in.
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted June 23, 2006 The one thing you simply have to take into consideration when judging the game is: It's a scify shooter. Either you are okay with them or you hate them like nothing else. it has some textures simillar to those of Doom3 but the game itself is different. Totally different. a) the story and the character are pretty decent. The guy isnt as cool as Duke Nukem (actually he is rather scared) but he talks to himself like Duke does. b) humans are being kidnapped by an alien race which basically uses them as a resource for something. You are being beamed into a space ship that looks like a factory. Humans are being transported and smashed on conveyor belts. Gore is a tiny little exaggerated. c) the game realy has some good ideas and innovations. The whole concept of the alien race is well developed and you there are tons of smart little things you can learn about them. It is not as dark as doom and it is not as repetitive as doom. Actually the games survives without stupid shock moments. But you have lots of things to fool around with! Weapons realy are fun. In my eyes it is a much better game as Doom3. Try out the demo, it realy is fun. It will remind you of the space-ship-level in DukeNukem3D.

Maybe this has something to do with "3drealms" in startup text. However seeing the posters in the bar creators are from Viking game Rune.
Metal Heart 0 Posted June 23, 2006 Quote[/b] ]I don't really see how this resembles Decent, being a first-person shooter and all Perhaps it reminds of Descent because it happens more in 3D than a normal fps. Like you can walk on these paths on walls and ceilings as if they had gravity. Or walk around a miniature planet that has gravity. The levels seem as linear as a rollercoaster ride though, Descent levels were more like 3D mazes.
Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted June 23, 2006 I honestly wonder what multiplayer feels like. Just imagine someone shoots at these gravitation-inverter all the time!

I'd guess it'll turn out like the F.E.A.R Multiplayer (Nothing special), screwing with gravity could be fun, but don't think it'd be very playable Downloading now.. Filefront is being.. fairly slow, jumping between 70-90kb/s (Should be up around 700kbs..), but only an hour or so left.. It'll be interesting, I wasn't impressed by the E3 footage, but playing it might be better - Ben

It's like the worst place to download anything unless you're a subscriber. Get the file name, and search on filemirrors.com and/or google for it.
EiZei 0 Posted June 24, 2006 The fact that the jukebox contains judas priest and that barracuda song makes it at least a decent game.

Fileplanet does indeed suck, but I was using Filefront, that has no queues (most of the time, well, longest time I've seen is 5minutes).. Most of the time speeds are fine.. But the torrent speed was fine The demo was.. strange.. Spoiler :: You start of, an Indian, talking to yourself in a mirror, in an Indian Casino/Pub.. The level ends with you being abducted by aliens.. Onto a spaceship where their.. processing humans, and where gravity random decides to jump upside down, and small boxes that lead to new rooms.. ..strange game - Ben
USSRsniper 0 Posted June 26, 2006 Looks like another clear the spaceship from aliens shooter  But still looks better then doom3 going to check out full version when released Loved the music in jukebox
shadow 6 Posted June 26, 2006 I've tried the demo and I dont see what all the fuzz is about except the portals (they were cool). The weapons in the demo and the out-of-body thing are lame. I prefer Doom3's more gritty and scary world.
norsu 180 Posted June 26, 2006 Just tried it and... well it's pretty strange game but I liked it . Like said before levels are pretty straightforward but I don't really mind as long as level design is good and stays fresh .
ebns72 0 Posted June 26, 2006 I played it and enjoyed it. I liked the whole setup in the beginning with the whole run down cherokee reservation. It was especially cool getting abducted. Very scary atmosphere in the ship, especially watching those people get "harvested." Overall it was very cinematic and entertaining visually and I guess "story wise" if you want to call it that. As far as innovation in level design goes, it is definately good to see developers doing something new and different but it still felt pretty straightforward. When they said "reversing gravity" I was kinda hoping to hop around while shooting guys on all four sides of a room. Maybe we'll see that in the full version, but the whole "gravity pathways" are kinda lame. I liked the green things you shoot at the end much more.
xawery 0 Posted June 29, 2006 HERE BE SPOILERS! I downloaded the demo yesterday. I was actually quite surprised about how well the game ran on my crappy AMD 2200. While the premise of the game seems rather cliche (ooh, abduction by aliens, how terribly original! I must say that the execution of the idea is very good. The first scene was excellent, I really felt like I was in a run-down bar. The antagonist is also quite original; a native american who has become out of touch with his roots. Not exactly the most common recipe for a hero, eh? The abduction scene itself was very cool as well. The alien ship was very well done. Again, the idea of 'harvesting humans' is hardly original, but it is very well executed. Something similar appeared in Quake II, but that was little more than soldier models getting reduced to gibs. In Prey, the first few moments on the ship (where you are tied down and transported into the ship's innards) is just sooo cool. Very atmospheric. Sadly, there are plenty of things I didn't like. The Doom engine is very versatile, as has been demonstrated by the EXCELLENT Chronicles Of Riddick. Alas, the developers of Prey failed to learn from that experience. Your character is a floating camera; you can't see your own body. That doesn't help the immersion much. In Riddick, getting punched shook your POV and really made you feel that haymaker. In Prey, all you see is a red 'attack indicator', kind of like in Half Life. And the weapons... Well, they just don't feel 'solid'. Sure, they kill the enemies like they're supposed to, but they don't really seem to deliver a true 'punch'. Which is a shame. Still, it's a demo, right? I certainly hope that the end result will improve these points. I do think they have a very solid story, and that's good enough for me. Good plots are kind of a rarity nowadays...
