chipper 0 Posted September 23, 2006 OK lets see. a 5200 FX with a core 2 duo and 20 inch widescreen monitor... why subject yourself to the ugliness of that old gfx card? At least get a 6600 or above.
blackdog~ 0 Posted September 23, 2006 No, it's just a P4 Dell computer, my server has a Core2Duo. I don't want to upgrade the Dell's GFX card until <s>October</s> November when ArmA is out and when prices for the graphics cards that just came out now are a little bit lower. CameronMcDonald 146 Posted September 23, 2006 I say bugger a 6600, go at least 7th generation, if you have the money.
Colossus 2 Posted September 23, 2006 I'll wait on the DirectX 10 gen. cards, at least then I'm secured for a while. Speaking of secured: Ubisoft leaked 2 Gb of screenshots for unannounced games. You won't find anything now though, Ubisoft did a well-done cleaning. I hate these kinds of mistakes, they take away the "wow" factor when they announce these games. Same goes with the one hour movie of Armed Assault

Same goes with the one hour movie of Armed Assault I would wait until Vista is on at least SP1, I have been very unimpressed with Vista to date. Right now I don't feel like spending a couple hundred dollars on an OS just to have DirectX 10 (since scuttlebutt is that DX10 will not be downloadable, will only come with Vista). Colossus 2 Posted September 23, 2006 I just wanted the DirectX 10 card, not the OS. I too would wait a while until I get Vista, unless every stinking game after release goes for Vista only (which is highly unlikely)

VictorTroska 0 Posted September 24, 2006 Reinstall.....you've messed up your system so far that for a novice it is beyond repair. nooooooo~~~ (ToT) really there isnt any thing that i could do about? ....System error once again...as i recall there was one month before... ehehehe What are u doing m8? Try Windows Repair form XP CD....not Recovery just Repair or: 1. Turn your computer off 2. Insert your Windows XP CD and reboot from the CD drive To boot from CD, press DEL on startup and enter into the system BIOS setup and select your CD drive as the first boot drive, press F10 to save your settings and exit Your computer will reboot from the XP disc 3. Press 'R' when offered the option of using the Windows Recovery Console (Note: there are lots of articles telling you NOT to do it this way, but from my recent experience this is the quickest and easiest way.) 4. The Recovery Console At the prompt type the following: C:\WINDOWS >cd system32\ this changes the current directory to C:\Windows\System32 ren config configold This renames the config folder to configold mkdir config this makes a new directory called config cd config changes the current directory to c:\Windows\System32\Config then type the following lines pressing enter after each one copy c:\windows\repair\system copy c:\windows\repair\software copy c:\windows\repair\sam copy c:\windows\repair\security copy c:windows\repair\default after each line it should say: 1 file copied type: exit 5. Reboot (you will have to go back into the BIOS setup and change the boot drive back from CD to your primary Hard Disk) When your computer boots, it will probably run CHKDSK and show lots of orphaned files which it will automatically repair or: Boot from Windows XP Install CD Press R for recovery console Select the number for the OS (in my case 1. C:\WINDOWS) This should result in a prompt C:\WINDOWS At the prompt type "fixmbr" (no quotes) A warning will display stating the mbr is not standard or corrupt (or words to that effect) do you wish to continue? Type "y" (no quotes) the new mbr should then be successfully written to the hard disk. Type "exit" (no quotes) at the prompt, the system will reboot and all SHOULD be well. or: System corrupt fix
