800x600x16 is "The Gamer's Choice" for most MP games.

But 16-bit colors don't work well with OPF tounge.gif

I never play games in less than 1600x1200x32

I have a 21' monitor and smaller resolution looks absolutely awful on it. Or maybe it's just me who are allergic to aliasing.

I've tried OFP in smaller rez, but framerate is the same. OFP seems to be drawing more on CPU for AI and stuff, than graphics.

I play in 1280x1024x32, which is great in single player, but in large mp games tends to slow down a little for some reason even though it's fine with 16 groups fighting in single player.

I use 1024by768 at 32bits. I would use something bigger but my 15 inch monitor doesnt support any more than 1024. mad.gif

1024 x 768, that way my screencaps make handy desktop wallpapers (its my desktop size too!!) tounge.gif

But seriously, I have tried playing on higher res, but I found some performance lost (not much, but enough to notice). And thats with a P4 1.8, 256MB rambus, 64MB Geforce 2 system.

Other stuff can effect performance as much (or even more) than resolution, like the shadows, cloudlets and visual quality settings.

I play the game at 1600x1200x32 like Gimbal, though on a 19" monitor and it looks amazing smile.gif

[offtopic]The only game I played on 1024x768x32 on my current specs was Max Payne, because it somehow crashed on a higher res[/offtopic]

I play in 1024*768*32. This is only because i have a shitty 15" monitor. When i try 1280*1024*32, the game is only half on the screen. When i tried my brothers monitor (21"), i could play it in 1600*1200*32, so i'm very jealous now at him. sad.gif

Currently 1600x1200x32, but I'm reverting back to 1024x768x32 soon. I get a lot of weird warping when I pull higher res than that, especially when there's a lot of objects on screen. Maybe it's my Geforce2, which is about to be retired.

I just helped my uncle to buy a new notebook so he could play games and dvd's in east timor, but he didnt buy an external keyboard, so its kinda hard to play.

I fail to see the connection unless the notebook has a very cramped undersized keyboard.

Yes it does, its one of those ultralight notebooks, my notebook on the otherhand, is nice and spacious, so i can play all the first person shooters i want.

Not nowadays! Chances are if it has a 14.1 inch display, it's got a comfortable keyboard - unless the manufacturer is just plain lousy.

I've got an IBM T20 Thinkpad. I'm waiting for IBM to come out with more powerful ones than what's available today that will have top of the line video chips built in. Then I'll find some justification at work to have it acquisitioned for lil' ol' me! biggrin.gif
