Take 3: Driver sits wrong

Recommended Posts

Hey mates!

I've already asked about my prob, but nobody answered...so i'm tryin for the third time. The problem is i've noticed that the driver sits on the wrong position in some vehicles...i mean in some left-handed cars the driver sits on the passenger sit on the right, but still the steering wheel is rotating when turning...for example in OWP's Zils and UKF's right-handed Landrovers (driver on the left). The same with some helicopters...i'm pretty sure thats the problem isnt with these addons, but with some another, because some time ago everything was ok...But my Addons folder has more than 1000 pbo's (about 10Gb) so i cant find out what pbo causes this...If anyone has an idea please tell it, because i've asked a lot of people about that, but nobody knows...Thanx..

Do you actually start OFP with all these addons wow_o.gif

If you do then clean it up and only put addons in you really need.

Well, at least with me, an uninstall never gets rid of the addons folder. Nor the users folder.

i prety much think the problem IS in the particular addon.

I seen this happening in some older version of landrovers - the early versions just had the steering wheel on the wrong side.

Maybe you accidentaly downloaded older versions of those addons and put them in instead of the newer ones which were ok.

the early versions just had the steering wheel on the wrong side.

I'm sure they replicated the right-hand steering cars in the UK...

i'm pretty sure placebo already told you to remove all your addons and put them back a few at a time to see if the problem came back and you'd be able to locate the addon causing the problems easier knowing which addons you put in last...he already locked your thread for posting in the wrong place...he's going to have a fit when he sees you've done it again apparently without trying to help yourself...

i mean what do you expect people here to do?...guess which of the 1000 or so random pbo files in your addon folder (that we have no idea what you have installed)is causing your problem...

if you beleive that it is another addon causing incompatibilty conflict i suggest you try what placebo told you to do

i'm pretty sure on this forum or on avon's FAQ there will be a list of the default pbo's you should have in your addons folder..

so hows about try that ??

..........you should be using modfolders anyway to keep your addons organised..

there are no issues with the Land Rovers on UKF's side, with regards to the driver being in the wrong place - the version we use, and everyone else seems to use, bar yourself, works perfectly fine

it seems you have an addon conflict somewhere - and the steering wheel isnt on the wrong side, the british drive on the correct side of the road, unlike everywhere else biggrin_o.gif

I expect somebody had the same problem, and then expect him to tell me what had he done with that...Unfortunately the dates of the addons are when they were created by their authors, and not when i put them in addons folder...thats why i dont know the sequence of puting them in there. And I've alredy tryed to deactivate addons with OFPam (thanks CsonkaPityu) but thats just impossible to locate conflicting addon among one thousand...

Buddy, I don't want to perceived wrong but you opened this thread under "Addons - Complete"?! Why? I can't see anything released?! smile_o.gif You are supposed to open it under TROUBLESHOOTING or its FAQ as far as I'm concerned.

Hope you find the solution! thumbs-up.gif Good luck!

exactly why i said you should be using modfolders to organize your addons then you wouldn't be in this predicament in the first place

sooner or later your going to have to sort thru them....

looks like it sorting time..so find a list of the default .pbo files that should be in your addons folder and get to work ...enjoy smile_o.gif

Maybe you right, but this will take me a lot of time, which i don't have, and also i dont know the file names of many addons...it would be very difficult to open each .pbo and learn what addon is this...So i still hope somebody experienced this and has a solution...

Gökhan...i've already put this topic there, but it had been closed in a few minutes because its addon related...so you can think i've released a very interesting mod called "Help Marshall" smile_o.gif

Can you see my "ö" letter? or just an "o" without its points? or a wrong character instead? Because of this paranoia of mine, I write my name different sometimes.

I see the points on the forum but it seems my system doesnt support it, thats why i cant reply with correctly written "o"...

However... Why the hell do you need about 1000 addons running at the same time? Thats madness. Why don't you just get an OFP launcher with pre-definable profiles and start only what you really need?

There is a button with these three signs (on my keyboard atleast): ¨ ^ ~

Press that button to get: ¨

Press that button and then "o" to get: ö

Easy as that?

I had this problem before a bit ago it was an addon conflict, caused by vehicles with custom animations. effected MCAR coded vehicles and all of ICP trucks, inwhich driver sat on the passager side or hovered above o r below the vehicle. was corrected placing uits in mod folders. Literly easiest way is to remover thrid party vehicle addons till you see things work correctly. some of PC Commandos early addons had this problem.

i know it is a daunting task but its something most people have had to do at some point..i know i have..

you get tons of addons in your addons folder and end up not knowing what the hell is what...this is what causes all the problems because you end up getting stuff like older versions of the same addons in your folder and this is where the problems start..

try putting them in alphabetical order because most addons nowadays have a "tag" eg

BAS

UKF

SJB

and so on...things like this should be easy to organise and you can make a BAS folder and put all those in there... check munks link for how to set the folders up..most people use the @ symbol

for modfolders eg. @BAS this puts them at the top of the list in your ofp folder and also makes them stand out from the normal game folders making it easier to browse thru..

any random stuff you dont know what is i suggest putting in an @misc folder and as placebo says put them in say 10 at a time this should make it easier to find anything that maybe causing incompatibily problems if you keep track of what you added last

i recomend using kegetys ofp launcher as you can just tick the boxes of which modfolders you want to load and it also allows you to set up the correct modfolders to automatically load when you join a MP server..

...munks link was broke heres one that works

The question was asked in troubleshooting and closed for what I believe to be a valid reason, that doesn't then mean you can go open an identical thread somewhere else.
