Ironsight 1 Posted February 19, 2006 Was a bit bored today so I decided to model a L118/M119 howitzer: Faces: around 1500 May be nice for OFP since we are lacking some modern NATO side artillery units, especially howitzers. So far it's only been a few hours work but I would love to get some feedback
Soul Catcher 0 Posted February 19, 2006 looking good so far, been waiting for something like this for ages
Mr ThunderMakeR 0 Posted February 19, 2006 Looks good, one thing Ive always wanted was some fully functional howitzers. We have all the components for them: towing scripts, CoC for ai controlled artillery, the Our Weapons aiming method for user controlled artillery, and even sling load scripts for moving artillery by air. But noone has taken the time yet to combine all these.

Ironsight 1 Posted February 19, 2006 looks VERY nice can you make some heavier ones later on maybe? Nope I am sorry. I am only doing the L118/M119 series.
Ironsight 1 Posted February 19, 2006 A more detailed picture: Can anyone tell me what the big round thing on the ground is for? Stabilization?
jagy. 0 Posted February 19, 2006 Nice work. But using of sharp/smooth edges arent good. Keep it up.
the_shadow 0 Posted February 19, 2006 the platform under the gun is the fireing platform wich is lowered to support the gun when shooting (simply raises the weels from the ground) more info here
sander 14 Posted February 19, 2006 Hi, It also allows somewhat easier traverse than manhandling a howitzer in the average heap of mud where guns are sited. Such platforms can also be found in use with other guns, like the 25 pounder. That gun looks good, as your work usually does. Regards, Sander
Mr ThunderMakeR 0 Posted February 20, 2006 Ironsight are you still working on that Ranger SOV? Sorry for being a little bit offtopic.
JdB 151 Posted February 20, 2006 As said, the round surfaces shouldn't be sharp, only the flat sides of those round surfaces should be (generally speaking). As with all things, experiment with it

I reckon he only made it all sharp edges is so we can see all the angles better as its still untextured . Looking good man , brits use same weapon , or very similar . looking forward to using this

Forgot to mention that in my first post Thanks for the comments guys. Right now I am planning to release (when I get around texturing the damn thing) a big pack with howitzers for each user country represented in OFP. Countries including US, UK, Australia, Ireland etc. BTW: If there are mods who want to use the model, feel free to PM me. Quote[/b] ]Ironsight are you still working on that Ranger SOV? Sorry for being a little bit offtopic. The Ranger SOV? Wow that goes some time back. Last time I checked it wasn't up to todays standards. Maybe I'll restart work on it but don't expect it soon. Sorry lol, I was looking up your past work and saw the RSOV from Jan 2005, but I mistook it for Jan 2006. Still, it did look promising.

Well the modeling part is mostly done right now and I am almost done coding it. It only needs some textures. So I don't think there's anything you can help me with. Unless you are a good texturer.... Ironsight 1 Posted February 22, 2006 OK got it ingame. Most of the coding is done. COC UA is plugged in but still gives some small problems which I hope to sort out soon. After that some detailing of the model. When that's done I'll start on the textures I hope.
